Personally, I was never much of a "knob snob" until I started playing out more and realized that I changed my settings a lot. With most metal knobs, there's either no indicator or something very small.
Jazz plastic knobs function well, but aren't the best aesthetic fit for most applications. So when the settings on my black-on-black Status were getting hard to see in a dark gig, I opted for the "Sadowsky Style" knobs from bestbassgear.com... and have been quite happy!
My SR5 just got a similar treatment for it as well...
These are kick-ass knobs. I know why Sadowsky and Pedulla use this style as stock... they look and work great. Nothing super fancy, but functional and stylish.
