Double Bass Kolstein Travel Bass

I have owned a Kolstein Busetto for a few weeks and the truth is that I am very surprised with the instrument. It's really great. And I'm sorry to disagree with some of the participants in this forum but the Eminence is light-years away from the Kolstein.

The Kolstine Busetto Travel Bass is a great instrument for me. It sound has the patina and timber I'm fond of. I demoed the Eminence and found it to have design features
that didn't suit my playing at all. The neck profile was extremely thick and round. Just my take of course.

If I had the opportunity to record an album or play a completely acoustic gig I’d love to get back into a beautiful fully carved instrument. But given where I am in life I’m doing gigs that I plug into an amp and I actually prefer using the Bussetto travel bass. It’s easier for me to dial in a usable tone and I’ve gotten quite comfortable with the ergonomics, thin and narrow shoulders.

Agreed, I have a 5/8ths Mirecourt French Bass it’s not that much bigger than the Kolstine. However for most gigs where DB is required I use the Kolstine because it’s easier to amplify and less cumbersome.

My Chadwick is just as cumbersome as my old bass, but I like how it amplifies. I will often use it if I think the amp will be on the whole time, especially at places like CBGB! Hopefully I will hear you one of these days.
