Hola gents. No affiliation, just thought this was a reasonable find: Kubicki Ex Factor 4 Electric Bass (1990)

Back in the mid/late 90's I had 2 '90 Factors. One Red FCS, one charcoal black refurbished by Phil himself. I always loved the 32" scale and I know they sounded good, but I was in the midst of a Bass Acquisition Whirlpool and eventually off they went.
Been waxing nostalgic lately and getting the itch....it's been a while.
This sent me over the edge. I thought about it all weekend, was going to await my BD in 2 weeks, then panicked. It is on its way, hopefully in my hands by end of the week. I hope it's as good as it looks - to be continued.
Thanks zuma!

Some say, I am a professional enabler.
Seriously, congratulations! It's coming home to you and if nothing else, it's a great investment. First and foremost, of course, I hope it inspires you to play more.
And a Happy Cap BD to you JIO!
To be honest, once I came to terms with sqeezing in another bass this year it had to be enough to make me be willing to "confront"( as it were) my incredibly forebearing wife. (I am very fortunate). Still....
I remember liking the idea of the Key Factor design back when, but if I'm going to dip in I gotta go with the Ex first.
P.S.I have to mention - if these don't work out I'm going for a Parker Fly FB4.
You only live once is right my friend! I don't need a Chiron when I can't drive anymore, I want it now while I can. This will hold me until the next one..Ha!
I had a Parker Hornet - the MIC low-rent exotic version of the Fly. The body was made of high-density foam with a plastic coating - think M&M's! I bought it damaged for cheap, repaired it, gilded it and sold it. I recorded a bit with it and it sounded really good. Electronics were basic - I imagine the Fly has more exotic fair.

As rare as many of your toys J. Hard to find for not the price of a house these days...

I'd like to play one some day - experiencing the Hornet, it would probably be very nice. I liked the neck a lot - only neck I liked better was the 24 fret Peavy B-Quad. Reminded me of my '64 T-bird II.
Once reason I looked into it was, as a not-lately-guitar player, the Adrian Belew Fly guitar with the "sustaniac" pickups caught my eye. Saw AB play it many times. Seemed like a good bet on the Bass. And it was![]()

The face was only a few bucks more... yes, Pure Blues are one if my favirites but I only had the mega 55-110 sets. I'll be ordering soon. I've had decent nickel tones out of Dean Markley's as well. They're in the queue. And wow, it even came with an expertly airbrushed portrait of your face!![]()
It came this morning. First, case is in VG cond. Open it up - and the bass is in great shape. Zero fret wear! The previous owner babied it in every way. Pre-amp replaced, orig included, plus a small bag with 4 or 5 opamp chips. Would seem he knew enough to mod the pcb. Anyway, everything works as it should. I put on a set of DR Lo-Riders and we like them. Love to hear some Chromes. Next time.
I feel real lucky to make this grab! I'm going to enjoy this for a while!
