Kubicki club, part 2

I've had groundwounds on my Kubickis for years. I put them on my fretless first, and really liked them, so put them on my main too. I really like the feel and reduced handling noise. I used Status Hotwire's but they no longer do them in the fancy options they once had. I'll try Elites when I replaced them.

So I finally cracked open the coffin that holds my 9V ExFacor. It’s the only one I’ve kept a battery in because I kinda liked the active circuit over the 18. After years of studying and refining my system with utility components that darn FCS 9V active bass sounds unbelievable.

Gotta experiment with my 18’s when I get around to it.

I musta missed this. Care to share some details? I'm a big fan of the 9v system too. My 18v '94 sits in its case while my 9v FCS basses have all the fun.

JIO and myself have always had our strong preferences when it comes to the Kubicki boards. I’ve always been a passive player and preferred the 18V board for its three passive settings. Crispy medium and low. Makes it easy.
However I always said when it came to active I liked the sound of the 9V board.

My system I refer to is basically my pedalboard that’s chock full of fine tuned pedals. Lots of utility. After years of studying them and getting things right, the 9V Kubicki I haven’t used in a long time sounds better than it ever has.

It left the factory red. It's been pretty much 95% modded - body and neck are the only things original, and the body has been chambered under the pg to bring the weight down. I'm taking it to a jam-session in a few hrs - it needs some playing love.

I had a black '86 - my 1st (used) Ex-Factor, in '93. Your pic of the back shows the grey base-coat under the finish. I stripped the worn black finish off of mine and that grey base-coat is pretty substantial. It was difficult to remove. Not sure if they continued that with the FCS 9v version.

Wow! That bass looks unplayed! Also, a '90 that isn't a FCS has to be rare. Considering that - $3k is a fair price.

Mmmmmm not too bad considering it’s condition.fairly sought after color. Not so much as the red but close. Idk. I suppose I have to realize Factors are due for a value increase.
