I bought my 1st '86 Ex-Factor in '93. In Dec '94 I bought the Ex-Factor lined-fretless neck for it from Phil. All the while I owned my '64 T-bird II (since '78). The Ex-Factorbird fretless build was my 1st foray into designing/building a custom/hybrid bass. The old-growth Koa body is constructed to the same specs as my '64 T-bird made up of a center section with attached wings, of which I did further ergonomic sculpting. I'm a big Phil Kubicki fan - and a big Gibson T-bird fan... and love my Ex-Factorbird fretless, currently strung BEAD.
I am liking my moniker on TB more and more as the years pass.
I am not a fanboi type but Phil earned a lot of respect with his innovative design. (He was also a good human.)

Sounds like a fun project. Get someone to make a copy of the neck for you, sans the D clasp like a non Ex-Factor, and try a 10" radius out! I would try slimmer frets as well. I love those Dingwall frets. They say they are a step above mandolin size.

I'm not much of a business dude. I should have way more cash than I do! Ha ha. I'd say you hit it on the head that we're in a bottom half of the never-ending up and down wave. I wouldn't pay that much for used. I'd just pony up a little bit more and get a new one. I say that without knowing what the actual new prices are! I thought they were around $4500. Does anyone actually know what a new Ex Factor 4 costs in 2024?
About 4800 with solid colors, 5100 with bursts etc.
That's what I was thinking, though over on the Kubicki Factor group on FB, someone earlier today was talking like $4K .... I don't believe it.
