Original is better. I passed on several nice Kubicki's that looked great but were repainted when I was looking. The prices were lower which tells me the value is less.

I just got a 1989 Red Kubicki Ex-Factor from a friend who literally bought it 21 years ago and has played it about 4 times during that amount of time, the paint has held up beautifully! it plays like a dream, it is a Fender Custom Shop model but it has the 18v Preamp and seems to be one of the last ones before they went with the 9v Preamp!, this is my third Kubicki, I bought #212 back in 1986 and played that Bass (a white one) for about 15 years before I sold it, then about 4 years ago i bought a Yellow one (why oh why did I sell that one!! it was the perfect University Oregon Ducks yellow, I should have kept that one!) now it is good to be back with the best playing bass out there!

Now that I'm ready to buy a pre-Fender Kubicki,I can't seem to find any?!I almost had the black one on Ebay last night but got out bid w/ just 5 seconds left-***! If anyone knows where I can find a good clean pre-Fender preferably let me know via PM.

Awesome looking bass! It is funny, though, that their ad says "sent to Phil in Colorado" I'm pretty sure Phil is still in Santa Barbara, California.![]()
