If he doesn't do it himself, I'm sure he could recommend someone. I'd just want to make sure the decal gets replaced.

That might be tricky, as I gather that the logo is not a simple decal. I am sure Phil would be happy to help you explore a solution of some kind. I recall years ago discussing with him refinishing a pretty beat Ex-Factor I had and he suggested it would be easiest to just buy a new body.

Personally, although I suspect this view will not get much support here, I never really liked the prominent logo on the body and always thought a pickguard of some kind would look great. I briefly considered contacting bobunit about his bass with that in mind--refinishing and adding a pickguard (perhaps you could convince Phil to allow you--it's a protected trademark, I am sure--to have a version of the logo engraved in a pickguard--that would look great!).

Best of luck in any case. It's a cool enough looking Factor just as it is too.

I used to own a Factor that was repainted from black to white. Looks like they taped over the logo. Looks cool.

Now that I remember, I did talk to Phil about the logo. It is in fact a screen print done at the time of painting. That is why you can't get a logo sticker or equivalent.

I like that white on black factor above. Looks killer.

I guess the logo is not such a big deal. Now I'm thinking of sending the disassembled body to Pat Wilkins for a Candy Apple Red treatment then off to Phil for re-assembly and hardware / neck restoration. However, I know I'll be playing her as-is for a it to soak in the mojo.

I feel kinda stupid saying this but.... I think the factor made me a better player. Also, I got a new Genz Benz Shuttle 12.0 and some Schroeder cabs. I definitely feel like I'm heading toward a new level.

Or, not and it's just physiological. Either way - I'm diggin' it.

Just wanted to gauge opinion on the following..

I just purchased the '86 powder blue Ex-Factor in the classifieds. I'm definitely planning on having Phil perform at least the Package 1 service, and depending on the condition of the neck perhaps a neck refinish. I'm also wondering about refinishing the body. It's not that I don't like the color, but it's not my favorite. So here are the choices:

1) Send the body to Pat Wilkins to refinish in the color of my choice.

2) Send the body to Pat Wilkins to see how close he can come to the original color while preserving the logo. I'd at least want to get all dings and cracks taken care of.

3) Not refinish at all and deal with the dings, dents, cracks (aka "mojo")

I most likely won't base my choice on what is said here, but I'm curious as to the results.

Thanks!
