Kubicki club?

That color looks kind of similar to my '86. Nice bass.

Wasn't this the bass in the For Sale thread that needed to go to Kubicki for repairs? I wondered what had gone wrong with it and if it had been fixed up yet.

sweet-looking pre-fender fretless ex on teh eGay

dude started the reserve a little high but it is rare to see fretless ex's from the pre-fender lot...

That actually is a fairly early Fender Custom Shop model (between 1286 and 3051 are all made during the Fender licensing agreement.). Still likely a great bass, but everyone here who might bid on it should know that its resale value will be a bit less than if it were an earlier serial number. Personally, I think that is unjust, but it is a fact. The auction does not say if it has the 18v or 9v preamp.

By the way, I don't mind if you pick on eBay. It's a big company that can take it, and probably even deserves it. Let's not do so by picking on our fellow human beings who happen to be gay, however. I'd like to think the artistic community especially would be more enlightened and above piling on already undeservedly targeted populations, even in what may seem to be a lighthearted manner.

C'mon man....this political correctness overkill is so very tiring....really, enough already.

Really? I find even casual and off-handed gay-bashing way more than tiring.

"Political Correctness?" Now that is tired! This is a perfect example of how the idea of "political correctness" got so misused that no one can take it seriously anymore. The idea originated as an ironic or sarcastic swipe at those who were unreflective, and without subtlety or discrimination, in their application of some political ideology. Please explain to me where I am being unreflective, or indiscriminate in my suggestion that it is regressive and needless to suggest that there is something wrong with being gay in order to take (deserved or otherwise) shots at eBay.

"eGay"? If it's not offensive, it's at least very juvenile. I assume that there are gay members and users of Talkbass and that they may well find it to be the latter. I, at least, would understand if they did. Why would one even want to risk that or to make anyone uncomfortable? Is there anything ideological about what I am saying?

Glad you don't find it offensive. Juvenile? yeah, totally. I didn't mean it to be pejorative toward actual gay people (whom I have 100% no problem with), but I could see how it could look that way.

anyway that same bass is down to 1199 now... someone better pick it up!
