No, I haven't. It took me a while to figure out what you meant but I get it now. You are basically giving up the low open D and replacing it with an Eb. Right? Then when you want an E you just play it one fret down from the F. Pretty cool idea! I'll try that sometime.

Yes, but... I didn't think it as far as you just did. I see that if I capo the Eb and then replace the dropD lever bringing it back to E standard, it probably won't be in tune... Hmmmm

If you bring back the lever to E position, it should be in tune just fine. You'll probably also have to capo from under the neck as opposed to over as the capo would get in the way of the lever.

I will add that if you don't want any tuning issues you should really get one of the NS Designed capos that Planet Waves makes (I think it's Planet Waves). It's the one with an adjustable set screw so you get "just enough" pressure as opposed to mashing it down like most other capos. There are two. Get the more expensive one if you want to flip it off quickly. The cheaper one has to be screwed and unscrewed every time.

Only thing is...will that capo work as AJ suggests? I'm pretty sure it's long enough to use from the "far" side of the headstock. If I get my Factor out soon I will try it for you.

So I let the baby oil soak in overnight, I polished her up, tightened the neck a 1/4 turn, lowered the saddle 1/2 turn, put on new Kubicki nickels and here it is. This thing plays like she's brand new. I still cannot believe I stumbled across this deal.

I will shop for one of those.

Looking at the neck, it doesn't look like the capo will interfer with the drop D lever at all.

Curious to hear if it works on your bass Zuma.
