quick question for fellow Kubicki owners... Anyone tried to "repaint" the knobs and screws on your Kubicki... The one that I got is perfect except that the screws for the pickups, screws for the neck and screws on the back of the bridge have SLIGHT rust on them. The bass was close to the ocean its whole life. I want to "restore" it but have no idea what to use. I called and spoke with Phil yesterday (What a great guy BTW) and he does not have the screws for the pickups etc. in stock.

Also if anyone knows where to get Kubicki Parts let me know... (screws etc)

To clean the screws, brush the rust off, then soak them overnight in WD-40. Right before putting them back on, rub them down with some white lithium stick lube, then polish it off and reinstall. That should cure that. The knobs are anodized. Call local shops that can do anodizing and they can let you know of the cost.

Does anyone here know if the 90's Fender Jazz Bass Plus would have the same preamp as say the Ex Factor, or similar? ...specs on the Kubicki site don't reveal much other than the obvious p/u difference in the Lace Sensors.

Btw originally meant to respond to ur pick up question but got excited by the parts list ...... Some say to set ur pups as close as you can get them with out physical contact or distortion , kind of a mechanical gain stage if you will

Here's my (20 years old in July) Bahama Green Ex-Factor #3249

I bought it new in 1993 from the Bass Centre in London , and have loved it ever since.

My only regret is that I didn't order a yellow fretless at the same time (The Bass Centre let me have it at a dealer price because I worked at a music shop at the time) and the prices have risen a fair bit since

I always loved that turquoise color---I first tried one in 1989 and it was that color. By the time I could afford to get one, he stopped with that color. Shucks. Beautiful bass.
