Lactose Intolerance?

That seems to be the case with me too. The older I get worse it gets and has seemed to become a real problem recently

I used to be just fine with dairy. Then, there was about a 2 years period when I really didn't watch after my health or diet. For those two years I had no milk & little to no dairy at all (2+ years of nothin but water, coke, & beer :hmm: ) ...then, I started to get fat. I didn't dig on that too much so I started working on a better diet. Started eating from the 4 basic food groups and found out that the dairy group didn't get along with my stomach anymore. I started using the pills (generic, like Brad) ...and they helped. I even found that I was able to use the pills less and less over time. Now, I no longer use them at all and have no problems. I drink milk everyday.

Look at the bright side. I good diary fart is a room clearer for SURE!

LOL last night while I was 'under the influence' of milk I was laying on the couch with my head in my wife's lap in between trips to the bathroom. She was trying to be patient with my 'air movement problem' but at one point she just couldn't take it any more. She smacked me in the head and left me alone to pickle in my own stinch. :( :bawl:

Oh so there's a light at the end of the tunnel?

I don't know how unique my experience is. I think that after going for years without dairy, I was producing very little lactase (is that the right enzyme?) ...but it wasn't an issue of my body not being able to make it, just that it hadn't been necessary for me for a long time. I think there are other people who's bodies are not able to make the enzyme, for whatever reason.

Intolerance to any food sucks. Just last week I discovered I may be allergic to some kinds of seafood. I'm on a diet and had a plate of shrimp last thursday for dinner. An hour later I started feeling choked, couldn't breathe well and had this awful sensation in my esophagus. I asked my wife for a ride to the nearest hospital. When I got there I was very nervous (I really had a hard time breathing) and the doctor found out that, despite having normal blood pressure, I had less than 50 pulses/minute (way low for me, even when relaxed). They injected me some adrenalyn! After that they put me to breath some oxygen with some corticoid. The choking sensation was gone. They sent me to another hospital to see an allergy specialist. When we were at the waiting room my wife says "how did you got hit here?" (pointing at the back of my head). I hadn't hit myself or anything. I touched my head and I had these huge protuberances there (ganglions). The ganglions on my neck were inflated too. After that, at the dactor's room, she asks "is this your normal face or is it inflamed?". I looked in a mirror and WOW! My face was all red and absolutely scary. She told me I had been medicated ok and those "alterations" would soon be gone. Fortunately, the next morning they were gone. The bad esophagus sensation lasted for a couple of days. I have to overcome some tests to find out if it was an allergic reaction or just an intoxication due to some bacterium that often appears on shrimp nearing summer. I'd hate to be allergic to seafood as I love it, all kinds. But I'm scared enough not to eat shrimp for the rest of my life!

The thing that sucks is that you can eat shrimp all of your life with no problem and then suddenly develop an allergy. Hopefully a good allergy doc will be able to tell you for sure. That sucks though!
