Lady Gaga Isn't so Bad

Popular equates to good a lot better than "considered a serious artist" equates to good. Look at Richard Wagner. Just look at him, though, unlike Britney Spears he is not pleasant to listen to.

Well he's not pleasant to look at either! But then I don't find Spears attractive.

I don't mind some Wagner, though I prefer Bach. I;m not much into opera.

On the other hand, I like what some people would find difficult to listen to pop music like Deerhoof. I'd listen to them before most "popular music." Great band.

There is an art and a talent to writing songs that connect with millions of people. If it's so darn easy and they're so incredibly talentless, then GO OUT THERE AND WRITE A BLOCKBUSTER HIT INSTEAD OF WASTING TIME ON THESE STUPID INTERNET ARGUMENTS.

+ 1000

The other thing that people forget is that these people (Lady Gaga, Madonna, Britney Spears before she spiraled out of control, just about any entertainer with more then a million albums sold) are (or were in Britney's case) extremely driven and extremely hard working people to the point were us regular folks can't even comprehend it. If they were awake, they were literally working at something to further their career - not posting bs on an internet forum. 5 minutes spent reading and posting junk on a forum is 5 minutes that could have been better spent in the studio or working PR or something. They really are/were that driven.

Alot of their success comes from being that driven. Woody Allen once said that 90% of success is showing up. In their line of business, "showing up" means working nearly constantly while not asleep, especially in the early phases of their careers.

This thread needs more boobs.
