Lady Gaga strange bass

if made a touch more ergonomically and technically feasible, I can see this concept being usable for a Bassist who doubles on Synth Bass onstage with a small 25-Key Controller or keyboard, like TLev does with Peter Gabriel as well as most Pop/Hip-Hop players.

Yeah. I do that at my gigs, it would be pretty sweet to put the two together.

Plus, how can you support/enjoy someone who didn't employ an actual bass player on her last world tour?

I really hope this isn't looked at as confrontational/derailment. I just feel real strongly about her, and can't comprehend what anyone on TB could see in her.

~B

And for that very same reason, screw The Doors! Amirite? No freakin' bass player means no freakin' music. Forget that Manzanarek had one of the most influential left hands besides Stevie's... /sarcasm

Bass guitar is often a component of good music.

Music does not require bass guitar in order to be good.

/mad props to whomever posted the Gozer picture.
//I'd still dance the horizontal mambo with Lady Gaga.
///Even if she is a Gozerian.

Now that her "shock value" has been unleashed on the rest of the world, the question becomes how long will she last?

The answer, IMHO, is that you won't see hide nor hair of her at the next Grammy show.....unfortunately, even though she may be talented, her "nitch" is the whacky outfits. Once the shock value of that subsides, her popularity will wane and she'll ride off into the sunset only to be replaced by the next quirky, oddball "entertainer" that's currently waiting in the wings for his/her 15 minutes of fame.

Or she'll be "re-invented" as an "artist," without all the hair and costumes and such. It really all depends on financial backing, an whether or not an entertainment conglomerate chooses to take a chance on her.

Awesome. Those guys get their panties in a wad if you aren't talking about playing old jazz to empty rooms :D. This would be like throwing meat into a pond full of gators!

No it wouldn't.....gators have teeth ;)

Try to keep the focus on the bass, guys. There's several other recent threads about Lady Gaga if talking about her is what you want to do.

I'd bet money this was custom made by EBMM, so yeah, probably.

You'd lose that money. The Artist Relations guy said:

"We sent them 3 basses to use for a 2 1/2 year tour. Most likely she took one for herself when management kicked the band out of the gig....it looks like the flat black bass we made for Tommy K while he was in the band. They have had multiple backing musicians come and go since last August."

Shakira is better than Gaga. She can actually dance, sing, play guitar, play bass, play harmonica, and still out think you at the same time (She's smart in other words actually smart).

Plus that Bass looks like slut. A expensive but, inexperienced one at that, just like Gaga.

Just another note, I'm not a particular fan of Lady Gaga's hysterics, but she can actually play an instrument. Here she is when she was still just a girl named Stephanie playing some jazzy piano stuff:

I'm glad I got a chance to see and hear her like that... thanks. But listen hard at about 1:21
As for the bass..... it's all about the pic. not the axe.

I just found this picture on the net.

sharp eyes will see a Musicman bridge and Big Al 3 single pickups and electronics configuration. strange.. ;)

I see a strange, ugly stage prop...and that fake bass sucks too.....
:hiding:

You don't think she is ripping off the usual pop suspects?
Does the name Madonna ring a bell? The lavish costumes and blunt sexual overtones. She might as well be named Madonna v2.0.

Err.. And Madonna was just David Bowie 2.0??

My goal in life at this point is to never hear one of her "songs". So far I'm succeeding.

You are either lying, or making a major stab in the dark :D:D

I can't say im a fan of the music, but I wouldn't say its any worse than everything else these days, and I have to give her props for doing something out of the norm, even if its not much of an improvment. As far as I know she is a song writer, and has written for other artists, as well as can actually sing rather than having a computer do it for her.

As for the bass, its pretty cool. If it was stripped right down to a steinberger type bass with a midi keyboard on the top, id buy one! A lot of bassists double as keyboarists, I wonder if there is a market...
