Has anybody here installed an Audere 3ZB preamp in their 55-01/44-01 or know someone else who has?
I'm thinking about eventually installing Norstrand Big Splits and a 3-band Audere 3ZB with the Z-mode switch, passive/active switch, and the midrange frequency switch. I guess I'll have to install the battery LED poking out the back of the control cavity cover!
Those of you who have installed a switch out the front in a new hole - is the front shallow enough to just drill a hole, or did you need to route/carve a pit so the switch could reach through the top?

I have a Valenti with an Aguilar OPB-3 and Nordy FatStacks (it's killer!), however, it requires no switches, just use push/pull pots.
This baby felt like an old friend the first time I played it. I'm loving the neck, and the tone!

I'm a big Audere fan, if you want clean, uncolored boost that's the ticket.
You can drill a small hole in the control cavity cover or you can drill through the front quite easily.
I've also seen 5501's with switches on the front...

When it comes to replacing the stock pre I'll check with David Meadows at Audere to see if the switch necks will be long enough. If they aren't I'm sure he wouldn't mind making the pre with different switches.
I'd like to know this too. I have an Audere in my 44-01, but I have the Z-mode switch tucked away in the control cavity. It would suck to drill a hole and find out the switch won't fit.

it appears that the threaded part of the pots and the switch are the same length. I'd have to talk to David about it before drilling, though.
So, you've got an Audere with the stock pups? How does it sound?
No, I have the US Bart MK pickups with the Audere. It sounds great. My favorite bass out of 24.
I'll let you know what I find out. You had no problem getting the pots to stick through enough to expose the threads, right?
Great! I would think the switches would work as well! I imagine a Z-mode switch, midrange frequency switch, and active/passive switch in a row in the midst of some nice replacement knobs of some sort.
Anbody here replaced the nut on their 55-01? I just sold a Peavey Millennium Plus 5 and the Tusq nut really did make the open and fretted strings sound the same.
I just got an email response from David Meadows at Audere saying that the switches have long thread collars just like the pots. He can't guarantee that they'll fit but if the pots fit the switches should fit.
For the good of the order, would you mind terribly pulling one of the pots out and pushing the Z-mode switch through the hole to see if enough thread comes through the front?
