I bought a 44-01 Deluxe recently. Here it is, on the left, with my other Laklands.

Did you check to see which preamp is in it?

Some of the deluxes have the NTMB in them...

I am planning on getting a 55-01 in july and i was wondering where the best place to get one is. I am in Australia and it will cost me $3000aus to get one, so i would rather get one when i go to PA.
I am also tied up between the Three Tone Sunburst or the Natural.

Bass Specialties is just outside of Philadelphia. They sale Laklands.

You may want to check with Glenn (the owner) before you come.

I didn't know that. I'll check.....

EDIT: nope, it has the MK1 in it. I'm planning on putting an Audere in it anyway, I like them better than the Bart NTMB.

I like the Audere too.

I have a JZ3 in my JO5.

Can't beat the cost or the transparency.

Same one here too, though the grain on yours looks to be a little nicer than on mine. But I'm not complaining, I still love mine....

A friend of a friend just gave me his to try to unload. Something odd I noticed is that it doesn't have the cloverleaf tuners, they are more like ultralights. Did any of the 55-01 basses come with the non-clover tuners?

A friend of a friend just gave me his to try to unload. Something odd I noticed is that it doesn't have the cloverleaf tuners, they are more like ultralights. Did any of the 55-01 basses come with the non-clover tuners?

I have heard folks say their 5501's don't have the clover tuners.

They're all hipshot tuners so maybe had a few runs without clover tuners
or perhaps the earlier models did not have clover tuners?

I could ask Dan and find out.

The early 55-01 and 44-01s came with Gotoh style tuners. The 55-01 I used to have had them. It was a 2002 I purchased new.

Ahh ok, then it is legit. I just wanted to make sure someone hadn't changed them at some point. Nice bass, really. I might even consider buying it from him, though I do already have plenty of 5 strings heheh.

Yes, it is legit, as long as it is from that era, 2002, maybe 2003, I forget exactly when they changed them.

Mine is a 2002 also, with Hipshot licensed cloverleaf tuners.

That is probably it, now that I think about it my current 2002 has cloverleaf, so it must have been during 2002. I don't think they used the Gotoh style for more than a few months. I remember in the Lakland forum on the old Dudepit at the time a lot of people didn't think they looked right with the Gotoh.
