Okay so i managed to attach my d'addario strings through the bridge and it seems to be ok. But i think i cut the strings to short on the B string. I was just able to wrap the string once around the tuning post. Would there be an impact ? I've read that you should wrap the string at least 2 and a half times...

It is best to wrap it 2 or 3 times, but it should work ok with just one. Not ideal, but servicable.
+1 It is ideal to have more wraps, but it is more of a problem on Fenders. On Fenders you need a lot of wraps to get a good down pressure on the E and A strings over the nut.
Lakland's have the string bar (don't know what it is officially called) that holds the strings down for a better break.

Could you comment on the Nordstrand big splits? could you get a marcus miller fenderish kind of sound from it?
Yes please! I am just about to buy a set for my 55-01 after long deliberation. Were you able to compare these to the Big Singles?
Also would love your take on the LH3, it's going to be that or the Nordie pre for me.
Gonna pick up my 55-01 with the Nordy Big Singles and Aggie OBP-3 upgrade tomorrow from the Lakland factory. Will post review and pics once I put it through its paces. I am really excited. 
First of all, thanks for all of the kind comments -- the 55-01 has definitely evolved into my Lakland "Platform of Choice."
Regarding the Nordstrand Big Splits, I think they are great pickups. No SC noise of any kind and they definitely sound like "J-Bass" pups. They also sound like Nordstrands, which to my ear have a distinctive sound ... a kind of "airy-ness" in the tone that I fiind very pleasing. The best way I can describe this is to think of the total OPPOSITE of the compressed/scooped character of DiMarzio UltraJazz (or by extension, Sadowsky) pups. Don't get me wrong, that is also a very pleasing tone but totally different. I've had a number of Nordies in a number of flavors in a number of basses and that "Nordstrand Sound" is always there.
Regarding the LH3 preamp, I find it to be very versatile and it definitely brings the pickups in the Red bass to life. Many (myself included) have complained that those Z-Bass pups aren't all that good. Well, in conjunction with the LH3 preamp, they sound very nice and the combination is a very nice counterpoint to my other 55-01.

Whoever on the forum said the knobs weigh a pound all by themselves was right! When I took them off to install the NTMB I was shocked how much the weigh.
Mine is strung through the body BTW.

The red is a discontinued color for Skylines.
