Lakland Owners Group #22

We moved from Michigan to Alabama about a year and half ago, and my gigs went from three bands, a large church of a couple thousand, and a boatload of studio gigs...to nothing...lol. It had been nothing until a few weeks ago when I picked up with a group called Big Praise. It is more of a Christian Southern Rock/Country group. Not my first choice, but here my only choice right now and I must say that I am having a great time with the guys. All good players, and as of right now, no ego's or issues. We are going into the studio at the end of August and looks like we will get some radio play out of it. I am also doing the Praise and Worship thing at church (that is really where my heart is musically). We do everything from Israel to Lincoln Brewster to Tomlin to The Jesus Movement stuff. Apart from those, I am going to be starting up with a 3 piece Jazz/Blues group out of Nashville in the next few weeks.

I have a REALLY hard time w/ my BEM fretboards and the tiny black side dots... the birdseye is so dramatic, even on the edge, that it's VERY hard to see (at a glance) where I'm at. I'm usually moving around on stage w/ no real overhead lighting, and I play all up and down the neck. And, I can't stay motionless and stare at the neck all night to know where I'm at
.So, I got an idea and bought some glow-in-the-dark tape, but it's textured and thick

I get my Rock (alt, modern, hard, whatever..) and gigging fix w/ Third Obsession. This is the band that ONLY my 55-94 and/or CHI-loaded Laklands seem to work with. I play fretless w/ another fusion group named Tunguska, led by a 12 string acoustic playing songwriter. It's heavily Latin influenced instrumental stuff, full of changes, and challenges for me anyways.... I don't get asked to play fretless solos w/ T.O.
. Can't wait to try my fretless Proto w/ BOTH bands

Hey guys, been dating a Lakie 44-02 for several weeks and I am finally getting around to tweaking her to my liking. I returned the mid center freq to the factory setting of 500 Hz and it sounds much better.
However, the discrepancy in output between the flat preamp and passive is huge. What kind of tool does one need to adjust the preamp gain? It looks like a hex or something, but the hex tools I have don't seem to fit it.

CRAP! One of the tuners threads stripped out while I was tightening the sleeve! Wasn't even close to overtightening it either. I'm gonna try to use some parts from one of the chrome ones, if I can. Won't look as good from behind the headstock, but it'll work I think. 
What the...... some of the tuner sleeves (luckily Jesse had extras from his problems getting them to fit) are shorter than the others. A short sleeve, combined w/ the extra thick black washers, caused it to strip (it was barely threaded when I tried to tighten it).
So, I've spray painted one of the thin silver washers from the chrome set, and found a longer black sleeve. Once the black paint dries, I'll try reinstalling the stripped one, and hope the threads grab.
