"B3 Boomer"????? the "official nickname"? I wanted it to be a BB&B but can settle for B3 Boomer......
I think a P/J BG5 might be a unique enough option for most.....with blocks of course.....oooooo....starting to drool....
Turned an unused bass amp into a nice 55-01.
Shipped to me USPS. I was very concerned with the contents when it showed up.
The bass is ~8lbs on the bathroom scale. The lightest I own. Setup is perfect and the pictures don't do justice to the ash or maple grain. I mulled over many basses in this price range and had to go with the Lakland sight-unplayed. I had some concerns with the string spacing at the bridge as its a tad wider then my others. No big deal though. Adapted quickly. I'm still getting used to the thin fret wire. It seems like the stuff on vintage/reissue Fenders. I find I don't feel them as well and can slide right over the intended note. And, you need to fret right up behind the fret or the note is not clean. I play this way anyway but the thinner wire makes it a tad harder for me to feel it.
Other then my opinion on the fret wire, nothing else to complain about. The build quality, finish, setup, etc is as about as good as it gets. I had a custom ordered Zon that didn't come in with this level of fit, finish and setup.
So far, I've only used on it the Church gig. Really looking forward to bang away on this with the big rock band!
EASonBass: congrats!!!! that is one sweet 55-01....don't those Lakie 5s soudn GREAT in church? will sound sweet in R&R as well!
glad to see that it was in good shape after the damage to the outer boxes.....3rd box must have been the charm!

You may find that after a while with the thinner fret wire you get used to it. When you go back and play other basses, they may feel like crap in comparison. That's what happened to me anyway...
yeh - me too....now most F&N%$Rs and other frets feel like major speedbumps!!!

Hey cool. Thanks. The vids on youtube are great! Love the ones on setup in particular. The guy makes it look so easy and fast. I guess that's why he's a luthier.

Yeah, the tiny frets immediately felt great to me. Yeah, I misfret some when I'm "getting into it", but that almost fretless feel makes the bass feel more a part of me.

I didn't notice much going to the Lakland from other basses, but larger fret wire definitely feels different to me know. I like the smaller stuff much better myself. I played a friendsWarwick Corvette a couple weeks ago with those big huge brass frets or whatever they are, and it felt really strange. Not very smooth feeling at all.Congrats on a beauty!

not really! you can order ANYTHING you want in a US Lakie from Dan....don't give up the extra string - EVER!

Well, I'm actually very lucky, I've got a great first bass, it's just that I crave a low B. Haha, that is funny. You'd better watch out for us young drivers, we're crazy.
I'm not sure if there are many Shorelines floating around in Australia, but I'll keep my eyes open, thanks for the heads up. And also, are those prices US$ I assume they are.
