a 5 string PJ Lakland Skyline will be way special! note this, I ain't even complaining about it being passive or active, and even about the choice of pickups
Heck, be it a straight P5, I'm after one and getting Dan carve me a j-size hole in the proximity of the bridge

EDIT: errr... not ME, the bass, I mean... I don't need an extra hole in the back

You know what, if the LOG P5 doesn't appear, I might as well go back to 4s. It's so much more choice with them. Must be the sad extention of the 80/20 rule - the ultimate 20% you need you can only get in a 80% effective package, he he...

As is customary, the sound guy had us sounding pretty crappy, so each subsequent band could sound better and better :rollno:.... Didn't matter, WE KILLED!!! My Sexual Chocolate got a LOT of attention, even the other bands wanted to ask about her! Had to educate a lotta folks about Lakies, it's always a pleasure :).

I noticed people taking pics of my bass while I was playing, felt great! :D We sold almost all our merch, probably close to 50 shirts and 50 CDs, had autograph requests (new to me :)), even signed 2 sets of boobies. I was the last member to sign one set, and she had to REALLY pop one out for me to have room. Signed me some areola hahaha. Funniest thing is, my GF insisted that I have my "rockstar moment" and sign dem boobies. She's the BEST!!!

great story! Man, sounds like you're into an interstate-wide and long bright stripe of life!
I hope you understand the least your GF deserved was a special one from you on her personal set? :smug:

BTW, a guy who's buying the shoreline from me just ICQ-d me that he and his GF are coming back from a bus sightseeing tour through Europe (ouch! that butt hurts!). She's being stoic too, after 16 hrs. of constant driving. And, as he describes, when he told her he's saving up and buying a Lakland (remember, after a tour with a GF, AND we only use cash here. He's a student too), all she said was "darling, come to my place anytime, I'll feed you" :D

Without changing any settings on my side (amp, DI, etc) the soundman literally had my gain at 2 or 3 oclock and the slider almost all the way up and my signal to the board was still very weak. For the first time ever he and everyone else told me to crank my amp up.

Without going into "fixing the soundman and system problems" I would like to get an onboard pre and change the pickups.

I do prefer a modern sound but do like the passive tones. Help me decide which pickups and pre to buy.

I have been reading about the Audere JZ3 and the East DJ Retro preamps. I want something to just drop in with no mods to be done. I know that the Audere requires drilling on the plate and that is ok.

What pickups Nordy's, Barts, etc.?

I know this is all a personal taste type thing but steer me in the right direction.

if you do like the sound - maybe you could get youself a sadowsky outboard preamp or pre/di?

that is just I was thinking- there's been word of no Chi HS config due to some technical issues...
Doug, all the Сhi-love aside, you could put up a double-aye poll, like: "vote for a P5-loaded LOG bass or for a Chi5-loaded LOG bass if you have cash"
