TRYING to get a single CHI done....to many people say it is/was an unknown....maybe NOW with more CHI-exposure...maybe just maybe....

a Double CHI P/J config? what is trhat I say?

BTW - JC good luck!!! you will love the DJ5....

Ok Doug...all this Anti-3TB hatred you are spewing has GOT to STOP! This is freaking america! (Although that butterscotch with the rosewood board looks hot). OK, I will give in on the 3TB for the LOG bass, if you can give me blocks AND binding? Do we have a deal? :ninja:

GREG - why oh why MUST you hurt me so!!!! so close and yet so far!!!! I go after it twice and you get it as an "after thought"...need to play it one of these days....see 'scotch is nice with blocks...REALLY ( I KNOW that is Shoreline gold, but the picture kinda makes it look scotchy!)!

Guys,

I heard from a good friend of mine that when they got their DJ5 there was a few problems. The neck was highly radiused, the neck was thicker than the average jazz bass, and it had a "bland" tone..

All three of those things are bad for me, as I like a thin neck (I play a Geddy, remember!), I like loooow action, and I want something bright and growly. I know a preamp will help that, but I can say that will be an immediate thing as cash will be low.

It had tons of punch and growl and could warm up really well. I loved the tone, so much so that I now want a Skyline JO 5. Dang gas! However, it was a HEAVY bass.

yeh - for some reason DJs tend to be heavy...JOs are VERY nice as well.....good luck and let us know what you think when you play a JO...growl away!!!

Although I'm not a LOGger, I reckon the second bass with the Ebony(?) fretboard and Maple(?) inlays was the most nicest.

I have a love/hate relationship with this thread.
I'm GASsing hard for a Lakland 5er, but I am a 17yr old Australian with little money. And for some reason I can't help but torture myself by browsing this thread.

Anyone have a spare 55-02/DJ5/JO5 they want to donate to a worthy cause?

I wait with high hopes. :p

On occasion, Lakland gets some "extra" Skyline necks...even Decade necks........BUT you did not hear it from me.....:ninja::hiding::D (I hear the e-mail clinking to Leo as we speak!)

I know describing sound is subjective, but anyone who describes a JO or a DJ as bland....has never played one. They are the epitome of passive jazz tone IMHO. Maybe this person did not understand passive jazz tone, or was into fieldy (clickety clack) but I would not call a DJ bland by any means.

the receission is OVER (the news media says so anyways!) and Lakland could use the order.....they are busy but a big backlog is a good thing!!!!

Hey, hey, hey, ... I resemble that statement very much!!
... but you gotta admit, it's a lot of fun to try THAT many basses of such great quality... some work for me, some dont. The DJ5 is awesome, the easiest playing 5er I've ever tried.
