Lakland Owners Group #23

Okay, Lakland really rocks. Called the shop and talked to Carl about my new 55-02 fretless, and what it's doing. He asked me about setups that I've tried, and I said that it feels more like an "age" issue, as this is new old-stock. The bass is an 07, so it's been sitting in a warehouse somewhere for a couple of years, and now it seems as though the board has shrunk a bit here and there and settled in, yet the plastic fretlines are raised a bit in some spots or lower in others. Nothing really bad and most folks wouldn't notice it, but it's causing the notes to pinch in a lot of places. He asked for my number, and a sales guy called me back within 15 minutes. They've issued a call tag with UPS, who is coming to pick the bass up from me tomorrow! Carl is going to give it some TLC and send it back.

Although this is my 4th Lakland, it's the first time I've ever called them for any kind of service. I wasn't expecting it to be this easy at all. I mean, it's not like Lakland is a small outfit anymore, right? Kudos to them, as this just gives me another reason to quit screwing around and buy that DJ5 I want!

well...."small" is all relative....yes they are small...and THANK GOD that they are....Carl is one of the nicest guys you ever want to meet (well, next to Dan and Leo)....he knows all and can fix all....

glad you will get some "Lakie Love" thrown your way!

get the DJ5!!!!

think about this, you bought an "inexpensive" import model (cannot use the words "cheap" and Lakland in teh same sentence) and you are getting this treatment....

I tried and tried to get a simple question answered from another major ("F") bass company and it took them 3 mothis to respond....

why do we like lakies? quality and customer care!!!!

LONG LIVE LAKLAND!!!!

Hey folks !

Part 23 is just incredible ! Keep on keepin' on ! :hyper:

With my band, we've just recorded some covers during the rehearsal.

Just wanted to share this one. Maybe I'm amazed... A great song from Paul Mc Cartney and the Wings.

I like the version we made...

This 's been recorded live with a zoom h2 put in the center of the studio room.

My DJ5 is ran through an old Genz-Benz 4x10 cab and a Hartke LH-500.
Hope you'll like it :)

GREAT rendition and GREAT pics!!!

we are putting together a LOG CD...give some consideration to putting one of your tunes on it!!!

we need 10 tracks to make it work.....we already have 3-4 possibles!!!!

love those DJs!!!!!

So it was definitely a tale of two nights this weekend.... Friday night-> big stage, stellar flown soundrig, big crowd....

...and Saturday night a stage about the size of the drum riser from the previous night, a not-fully-functional Behringer "PA", but still a decent crowd....

Cool pjhhotos! the second picture...looks like the guitarist was caught mid-belch, or doesn't like the small stage:-)

Man, the 55-02 is one of my all time favorite body shapes.

I wish I could find one in a different color than black, sunburst, or that cherry burst.

I would love a sunburst with maple though!

sorry - the only way to get other colors would be to buy US..or look hard...there are a few other colors out there (my AMBER for example! :D)

we are working on Dan to do some different colors for the Skylines....he is somewhat leary now until he is "sure" indo is doing things 100% correct.....

Yeah, when the sales guy called me back, he wanted to know how soon I could have the bass ready for a pickup. I said that I wasn't sure it needed it, and he said "Carl just told me that we had a 55-02 out there that needed to get back in the shop asap so he could go over it." He said they don't normally cover shipping expenses but in this case it was going to be that way.

I swear it felt like I was dealing with Genz Benz, the only other company I've had treat me so well.

;):D:bassist:

you're dealing with the best!!!!
