slow posting day......anyone here play their Lakies through a pair of DB112's? Thinking about getting a pair. Any thoughts on them?
I haven't tried the 112s, but both I and MattyG own DB410s--very punchy, a vintage sort of sound with a lot of mids (especially with the tweeter rolled off). Sounds great to my ears with my Ampeg V4B. I've heard the 112s have a little more low end.

sound like? probably similar to the neck pickup on this page: Invalid Link Removed

Though, Lakland's p-pickup uses the same technology so I'd check that out. I love it.

Yeah, I've only ever seen that one and the LPB one they took to NAMM. I got to play the latter for a few minutes--really thunderous, and you could switch from HB to single-coil mode on the tone knob. Hard to recall much more than that.

AWESOME! Congrats, I want a Decade SOOOOO badly....

I had my first gig this evening. An outdoor gig and the Tone I got from the Decade was exceptional !!! Deep, deep, deep !!!! Loved it !!!! Very different than the DJ4, not better, but different !!!!

The chi-conics pickups are out of this world so much they are sensitive and delivers great harmonics !

Again, the neck on the Decade is perfect, like any Lakland basses out there !

Hmm...

Can you order a chrome pickup cover along with those Chi Sonic P pickups? Or is that only for your usual P pickup?

Also, what is this finish called?

I'm not sure if the cover would fit. You could always shoot an email to Lakland.

The color's called teal green metallic. Looks really cool in person.

That is a beauty! The smaller body is one thing that makes me think twice about getting one. I am a full figured male bass model, and I don't know how a tiny little bass would work with my full figuredness...lol...I still want to try one though..I am a sucker for bound and blocked rosewood.

This is the first bass ive turned up to a gig with where all the band have commented on it. All positive of course.
We had a really good gig, in fact it was a bit more hectic than i have had recently. At one had a very large, drunk but pretty bridesmaid grinding here butt so hard against me i had to brace myself against my amp and play my bass almost up over my head for one song.
Im guessing it wasn't due to playing a Lakand but who knows as its not happened before lol.

Anyway, the bass was almost perfect. I didnt notice the different body size when it was on, at least, it was so comfortable that it felt right so i guess the smaller size was a good thing.
The neck was so much easier to play then my P5, i was flying all over it, in a good way of course.
Im really not liking the tone yet. It could be because of the strings, the fact that its just not a P or the venue.
Im happy to keep at it though. Im sure the venue was sucking a bit of the tone out as it felt like it was a hollow floor. The strings im going to change anyway so that just leaves the Jazz tone to get used to. And im sure that will come. Its only been the one gig so i really shouldn't juge it just yet.

I'm not a huge fan of the jazz bass sound, but I DO like my Hot Rod in series mode. If you're a P fan, you should give series a try.

Hey gang, Im sort of a lurker in this forum. I just saw a used CAR 55-01 online at Guitarcenter.com for $399 !! Im not a 5 string player but I just thought that was one heck of a deal on a now discontinued color and thought someone over here might be interested in it. Just search for Lakland under basses in their used gear section. If it was a 44-01 I would have been all over it !

Opps, forgot to post about this.

I picked it up this morning. First impression was not good im afraid.
I think i was shocked at how small it was and it reminded of one of those 3/4 guitars Argo sell. Its also pretty light.
But after sitting down with it im very happy. Its nice to have a Lakland neck again. Ive been saying recently how well im getting on with the P5 but after a few min's on the DJ5 i now remember why i wanted one.
Very fast neck and i prefer the smaller fret wire Lakalnd use. I had forgotten about that and i think this makes a huge difference. I still like the P5 neck but after playing the DJ5 for a few mins the P5 now feel "clunky" to me.
I cant tell if there is a difference between the DJ5 neck and the 5501/JO% neck. There is spec wise but not sure it really makes a difference. Certainly my worries were put to rest once i started playing it.
Ive not plugged it in to an amp yet, although i played it through my PC using guitar rig in to headphones. Lovely tone but i will change the strings for Elixirs once i get back off holiday. Im pretty sure the Elixirs have more punch and i like the higher tension. For now though the Lakland strings are fine. I used to use them all the time on my 55-01.

Finish is perfect and im hoping the sparkle with bring it to life under stage lighting.
Really looking forward to gigging it tonight.

Ive taken a few ropey pics quickly but ill do some better ones when i get back. Im also ordering a Black scratch plate for it as soon as i can.

Congrats! I tend to like the size of the JO5 body better, but I'm a sucker for the blocked necks of the DJ's.... If it's a newer DJ5, it seems like the necks are a lot more similar to the other Lakie fivers than the older DJ's. Anyway, nice grab!

What cabs are you using it with? I am wondering if it makes a difference with a single 12. I would think that taking advantage of floor coupling with a single 12 may be a benefit.

I'm using a GK Neo 210 cab. If I still had my 112's I would most definitely use it. Not losing any bottom at all. In fact my low notes are more clear, and rip your head off:-)

Nice!! Yeah...the ChiSonics are incredible! That's why I have them on every bass! Glad you're diggin' them as much as me!
