MGD? Noooo.:rollno: Goose Island! That's where we went after the Lakland GTG.;)

And cheese curds are a Wisconsin thing. Deep dish pizza and Chicago-style hot dogs are the way to go here.

The strings sound good - I usally play slightly heavier guage -action is real low and I am clanking them with my heavy hand - playing lighter helps!

I dialed in some killer tone on this - this bass has huge Sonority (for lack of a better word) in each note- it is just Thick and Luscious - major booty going on. Just playing it and smiling - thinking this is the real deal - no joke - it sounds full and bad ass - so maybe I will keep her like this for a bit. :D

I think I am going to call her

Where are you in Bama, by the way? The weekend after next, I'll be in Tuscaloosa Friday night and part of Saturday--I'm going to the UF/Mississippi State game in Starkville that night with a bunch of friends.

The laklands have the best B in the business...yet it is the lakland 4's that have made me all put down 5's. I will always have a 5er in the set (55-02 currently) and it get's used a lot for the Worship stuff I play, but I find myself gravitating more and more to my Glaub and hopefully my HB on the way. I will eventually but another JO, but in a 4 this time.

Let's see, I currently have an Acme LowB-2 2x10, a Carvin 18, a Dr Bass 2460D (2x12 + 6" mid w/ horn), a Berg NV215 (2x15), and the 2 Epifani 1x12s. Too many cabs, I know. And, I've owned some Ampeg cabs: two 410HLFs 4x10s, an older 4x10, and a 2x12.

All I can say is read the reviews, cause it's all about how a cab is built, ported, voiced etc IMO. For instance, my Acme is a thunderously deep cab, shakes the room more than my Dr Bass cab. My Ampeg 410hlfs were designed to go ultra low also, and they did, easily hanging w/ or bettering any 18 I've heard. But, they required massive power and did NOT sound like classic Ampeg 4x10s. So, if you're gonna play 5ers, I'd either get 10s made for basses w/ B strings (HLFs or LowB2s for example) or 12s or 15s. 18s are not the best all purpose cabs IMO.

So what kind of sound are you after? Musical style?

I mostly play rock and church music. I've played through I own a 210 and I've played through 115s before and I do like both of those, but I am yet to play through 12s. I am inclined to go for a couple of 210s, modular, so I can use however many I need, but am not sure if 12s would be better suited.
I will probably go with Epifani, as they have good reviews and are relatively cheap in Australia at the moment.
I will try out both the PS and UL series of 210, 112, and 115 when I try go on my little excursion in a month or so, but was just looking for more "testimonials"

Hey Greg,

The wife and I are originally from Chicago. About 5 years ago I transferred to Grand Rapids, MI for work. 3 Years ago I started traveling full time for work (around 300K miles/year) and did that for about a year and a half. Having a YOUNG family at home (3 month old daughter), that got old really quick, so I took a job down here in 'Bama where I was in the office and not traveling. Not traveling = good idea...Alabama = well, we are trying tog et home...lol. I am about 3 hours from Tuscaloosa. We live about 45 minutes south of Chattanooga, TN.

I love my 112's. It is hard to generalize a "size" of speaker. You really need to talk about a particular cab to have a good description. With all the technology out there, I don't think it is fair to say "12's sound like XXX, 15's sound like XXX, etc. I had a stack of Eden 12's....sounded nothing like my Mesa's. The Mesa 12's sound more like a 15 to my ears. But I have played 15's that didn't sound like 15's...lol. It takes a lot more time to find a cabinet(s) that work for you, but it is so much fun trying out gear (although it can get expensive)
