I was joking of course, about 4 bangers, having just bought Carl's 4-76DS.
But, YES!! I've said many times that I want a 66-94.
Been helping my buddy shop for his first "decent" bass. (We snagged Markus' old Carvin/Peavey rig a while back). Anyways, we saw one of these at GC, and it has me drooling! I'd love it if I could afford to have Dan build me one, same LPBlue color, black pg, add a chrome br cover and SD Bassline pup, BEM fb would be sweet too.
Anybody else think this would be a HAWT addition to the Lakland product line??

I'd like to see it with a streamlined Lakland headstock...like Lakland's equivalent of this one.
So, I've had this beautiful 55-02D that I traded for a couple weeks back. Easily the best playing and put together Skyline I've owned out of 4 now. However, the tone is just not happening for me.
It has the LH3 system (not sure which version, but it is an '08 model 55). It came with a fresh set of Lakland strings on it (light gauge... usually play medium) that I decided to leave on for the time being as they were new. So, thinking that may be part of the issue as well. Hoping that slapping a set of my "go to" DR Hi Beams on it will help. Only other thing I can think of would be the midrange setting. Haven't really toyed with that yet, but curious as to what you guys have yours set at?

For my bart-equipped 44-02, I used to always have my mid-freq. at the lowest, like 250hz because I really liked that vintage low-mid growl. However I've recently switched it up to 850hz, and I think both the bart system and the LH-3 really come alive around the 800-900hz range.

Yeah, for all my Bart equipped Lakland's, I usually end up at 700 or 850. I'll have to take a look to see where this one is set.
Hoping that I'm just not a "Bart guy" because I love the bass otherwise. Heard so many raves about the LH3 stuff, that I'm finding it hard to believe I'm not digging it.

Yep, Traci's Bart pre is set on the 8 or 850 (can't remember). Sound phe- freakin-nomtasical!!
This brings up a good little topic that hasn't been discussed in a while I don't think... What kind of settings does everyone usually play with on their Laklands?
For my 44-02:
Volume: 75-80% (like to leave a little room to boost if I need to)
Low: Boosted maybe 33% from flat
Mid: Boosted about 50% from flat
High: Flat
Blend: 50/50
Coil tap: Tapped favoring the neck-side of the humbucker. I'll occasionally tap the bridge-side for some slap-work or more modern sounding stuff. I hardly ever play it with both coils on.
For my 44-02:

EQ I usually run flat... very occasionally boosting the Low just a touch and sometimes boosting/cutting the Mid a smidge depending on the song.
Blend is most often 50/50.
Probably a split (no pun intended) between the neck coil and both.

OK....GAS related issue....ya'll know my plan to get a HB....well, I just had another bass cross my path that I have been gassing for...and it is NOT in the color config that I am known for. HB or ACDJ4?

I tried changing the midrange setting on my Bart-equipped 44-02 and couldn't tell much difference. I suppose it's because I normally leave the mids flat. 
My 55-02 settings.
Low: maybe +15-20% from detent
Mid: about 30%
High: Roll off about 10%
Blend: 50/50
Coil Tap: typically both coils on
Honestly, and I'm a HUGE HB fan here (Markus can tell you...), but you don't see too many ACDJs floating around. If it's a good deal, I'd probably snatch that up. I don't see the HB going anywhere anytime soon.

It was more noticeable for me when doing some DI recording where it's nothing but the bass and pre with no coloration from my amp. But I am starting to notice the difference in a live setting as well. Much "sharper" bite than my typical vintage rumble.
