Sweet!! Really dig the color, and i'm a RW board lover myself, so....... I think a black or black pearl guard would look killer, but i'm sure white pearl would kill too.

Over time, I've seen the selling of different brands of basses come in waves sometimes in the classifieds, whether it's Lakland, Sadowsly, EBMM, etc. I wouldn't make anything of it.

There's quite a bit more sparkle than the pics show. I am really, really digging the Inca/Rosewood combo. This is my only RW bass. Pickguard is most likely gonna be White Pearloid, keeping the black knobs.

I gotta tell ya, I'm surprised. I fired it up with the Lakland Steels that come on it, and this little sucker POPS! Great frikkin' snappy tone! the neck is plekked, so it plays perfectly like all my others. It almost makes me rethink sending it off to the chop shop. If this is Lakland's most cost effective bass, it's gotta be one of the best deals on earth!

Awesome, Gus! Inca silver is a really cool finish. First Lakie I saw it on was a 55-02, it looks especially good on that body. Though I'd love to see an inca silver Glaub!

So what are your plans with this bass? Active/Chis, perhaps?

I love my 2 Chi-d up Fivers, but I'm gonna try this one as a straight passive P with flats. The pickups and preamps go away, and it's getting routed for a Nordstrand NP5 in the BG5 position (3.25" from the apex of the Lakland Bridge). All that work will be covered up by a generous pickguard. There's always room to put a BigSplit in later if I want, and the fine folks at Nordstrand say they can wind one to match the NP5.

It goes in on Monday, and I should have it back 7-10 days later. Pickguard will have to wait until after that.

SURELY YOU KID, NO?? But, just in case, here's an :eyebrow: for ya.

Here's the deal (sickness). They're so D@*N good that we can't get enough!!

It works like this (at least for me):
1)We buy more Laklands than we can possibly use, even if we played in 14 different bands of different genres AT THE SAME TIME.
2)Another Lakland catches our eye, maybe it has a BnB neck or a different set of pups............ it doesn't matter, WE'RE ADDICTS!! (Lately, I've sorta been after rare one-of-a-kind lakies.)
3)We sell what we can to fund the next Lakland purchase. Sometimes that means letting a lesser-played Lakie go :crying:.

I currently have 4 Lakies and enough spare parts to build a complete 55-02, just need a body........hmm.......:eek:

.....getting back on track..... I've been repeating this cycle for over 2 years now, since getting my first 55-94. I've traded or sold 3 5ers IIRC, and am kinda stuck at the moment cause I TRULY love the ones I have, but I'm watching like 6 that are for sale/trade.

Yeah, Inca is so much cooler in person. I wasn't a fan 'til I got Shadowfax.

*smacks forehead* Ahhh, that's right. I knew that, I just got confused with all the modding talk around here lately. That's going to be very cool!

Exactly. MY 55-02 i sup right now to grab a DJ5....although after last night that may have changed. I wish someone would say whats up with the 6er. I will not get a DJ5, if that is coming down the road. I would just like to know if it is serious or not. I was going to mod a DJ5 to be my "active" bass but would rather have a 6. Are we talking weeks? Months? Years? All of these little teasers are fun and whatnot....but for those of us who are very serious about one, and looking at other purchases....I would like to know what's up so I can make the appropriate financial decisions.

Yeah. I love all the lakies I've played. They are the best fender alt out there. Personally I think if you go active get a shadowsky if passive go lakland. Being one of the last fender junkies I think that no lakland could ever could come close to a 77 pbass I played once. But, the the usa (cant member if it) JO/other jazz but I haven't ever played a jazz that nice. Even the 64 fender CS I played the other day
