I think I'm going to take my new Dunn ONLY to the gig tonight. This is the first outting with her (him?). Kind of nervous about having nothing but a P bass, but the gig is of no consequence in terms of sound, so it'll be a good place to give it a full spin.

As for Traci... me and my fiancée like the pup cover, but I think that it's too busy looking, due to the quilting :(. It'd look good on a white road warrior 55 w/ a tort guard... maybe one will appear FS soon??

I had that cover on another bass for almost 5 yrs w/ that thick jelly-like heavy duty tape. It never budged and didn't leave the slightest mark. So, I'd never drill holes.

From what I've been hearing (and will soon experience) a P is all any of us need

damn that bass is so hot!! if you want to get rid of the swirls in the finish use meguiers scratch-x the stuff will bring the finish back to new.

also for poeple with fingernail scratches from slapping, it will fix that too.

I'm trying real hard with the right strings, shortening the strap a bit, and anything else I can think of to play this comfortably. Between my big belly, short arms and small hands.... I just havent found that 'settled in' place yet...
... but man this in one sweet bass!!

Ya see, if I had another set of Flat 5's, I would try to set up the Glaub like Kokol... 34" scale, 4 strings... might be what the doctor ordered. I always seem to get lost in the middle, one hand on the A and the other on the D... then switch. If that DID work, I would have no need for the 55-94 and could look for a US Glaub and call it a day...
...just thinkin out loud.....

Jelly-like? I've tried using double-sided poster tape before. It has a sort of spongy middle, but it's not jelly like nor did it hold very well. Can you give more detail as I'd like to try that myself.

Yeah, wel...I'll have to wait and see. I've played nothing but the Dunn all week at home, and it's grown on my big time. But I pulled out the DJ today, and it was instant chubby. But I'm going to follow through and play the Dunn tonight. I have an outdoor gig tomorrow night that is more high-profile, but it'll be an even better chance to see how the Dunn does since I'll run my rig a bit louder, plus I won't have any funky acoustic issues to deal with. Tonight is just a test run.

Well, I guess jelly wasn't the best word, but it certainly isn't like any other tape out there. It was some extra strength thick spongey clear stuff that I'm sure I got in the craft section at walmart, same place I get my Velcro for my pedal boards. I think it had red peel away backing on each side, and was at least as thick as say 4 business cards.

I was actually expecting, and would have totally accepted, for them to say ",we'll sell you a new neck at a discounted price." I have had a very similar experience with another major bass manufacturer (who shall remain nameless, but the letters of the company might have a G and an L in it) a few years back regarding a wanky neck that was poorly manufactured. Their response was we'll "sell" you a new neck. Totally acceptable cause I bought it used and the warranty didn't transfer. No big. But Lakland definitely goes above and beyond with their product.
