So Lakland'ers...Have there been any specs released on the Bob Glaub 5 Skyline? Definitely interested in a P and definitely interested in a 5 string. Just wondering about scale length, neck width at nut, and string spacing at bridge. I like in a very small town so it is difficult to try out different basses. Thanks!
Hi there,
It'll be the same 5-string neck as the other Skylines (except for the DJ, which is a bit different). So, 35" scale. You can see the other specs at Lakland's site.

Awesome, thanks guys. Wife has okayed up to about $1500 for a new bass for my birthday (in June) so this may turn out to be perfect.

Once your smitten by the Lakland neck (US or Skyline: tiny frets w/ exquisite fretwork, superior smoothness on the back, etc etc) 35" scale for a B that you won't believe! AND, Lakland's superior pickups and bridges... you'll know that there's no comparison!
And, I'm not a Fender hater! I love my HR jazz, but when it comes to 5ers and consistent quality across the board, Lakland all the way!
I'm envious of you guys who're ordering that LOG bass. Maybe next year one of you'll be tired of it... ;-)

You should probably also take a look at the forthcoming Lakland "LOG bass" if you're interested in a P5 ( Link Removed ). A limited edition bass (with a VERY attractive price tag) that's pretty cool and will apparently be available before the other Glaub 5's.
If I had to guess, I'd say the Lakland's would be as good, if not better than any Fender. You're talking to a semi-biased group here though
But really, the Lakland stuff, including the Skyline series, are top-notch. And I guarantee, if needed, the customer service from Lakland blows any major manufacturers customer service completely away.

ABSOLUTELY, if I can't learn to eventually play it then I'll put it under the bed for my retirement... a closet classic as it were!!

As an owner of a US BG5, and having owned about 15 Skylines, I would venture to say that there's no way you would be disappointed in this bass- and the price point of the LOG bass is unreal!
Evan, you know I'm a maple kinda guy...
and of course...
... but then, you HAVE seen the Spice Rack....LOL...
I really DID consider it John, get all my demons in one place... and overcome them!!!!
