Well, the only A/B comparison I see is the JO bass. I was really hoping people with other basses, perhaps a BG with a Chi in it (Markus), could tell me what the difference is, even in general terms.

OK...here it goes:D The single coil ChiSonic is more open, and each note is more defined, and clear. It can go from being very smooth to really loading up when playing hard and being aggressive. Similar to the Darkstar in the way of clarity, but more growly mids. The one downside is the single coil hum, but the tone is incredible! If you listed to the neck pickup on the JO CS, it is similar. Hope that helps!

I've found (by trial and error) that I'm not much of a fan of the traditional sounding jazz bass, in a band setting (love 'em solo'd). Vintage jazz definitely doesn't work for me, the Aeros in my DJ5 were better, Lakland's pups better still and I could work w/ them, but the Chi singles sound phenomenal!! Now, I've not had any in a bass yet, but the soundclips pretty much told me all I needed to know.

That reminds me Markus, did you end up shielding your bass like Denis was saying, to remove the hum?

Thanks, I definitely thought the Chis sounded smoother in the JO compared to the normal pups. Just wondering though, I don't even have my first Lakland and I am already jonesing for another!

we have been over this like 10000 times!!! (just kidding!)

The single coil Js are like Js on steroids....much more full and gutsy.

the humbuckers are like "rolling thunda"....gutsy with floor shaking ability.....
