nice when you get a responsive bass huh? I felt the same way with my first fretless....now I like to play the fretless ALOT! love the nuances etc.

as for your first sentence...about your wife...we ALL have the same issue....they just do not understand...

well OK - Gecko 5's wife and Jedi's soon to be do seem to understand but they are the exception (exceptional??)

BTW - and this is HARD for me to say - especially in this thread, but I like the mocha coloring on the F&ND$R P......

My 2 primary basses (now) are my '69 pbass and my lakland HB DS.

When I first got the Lakland off of TB a few weeks ago, I marveled at the tones available. BUT, after the first time I played it live, I left the situation...well...scared. It was almost TOO responsive?!? Every single nuance was picked up and amplified by this bass. I was used to (and comfortable with BTW) 1 vol/1 tone. Tone at about 50%, volume 100%...play. Done. Oldschool/slightly compressed sounding P tone. Now, I had switches/pickupS/hollowbody resonance/etc...

So, I pulled out the trusty P and went back to regular life...scared to death of the HB!!! But the more I pull that HB out, the better I feel about putting myself in DEBT to get it!!

I just had my first practice/live set of experiences where I felt like I was ready for the responsiveness/tonal possibilities the bass had to offer, and I left smiling EAR TO EAR!! The bass is amazing...and officially my number 1 bass for anything NOT punkish/uber-quick-upbeat/etc, as I'm not a good enough technical player to make my fingers accurate enough to get a good 'quick' sound yet on this bass.

My favorite "switch" is the "vintage/tone" switch. Its got a cool tone-almost-off sound, but with more girth to it than almost any position I can find on the tone pots. In the bridge position, I can really overdrive the pre-input of either my floor-board setup, or the late-70's bassman head I've been borrowing as of late. Sweet...

Just because I'm proud, here's a new family pic. (the basses I'm still trying to sell to pay for the HB were not allowed in the pic!) Sorry for the finger prints on the chrome...I had JUST put it down from playing.

we are the "beta testers"...I have a brief review up on the LOG site...Greg was supposed to do one as well (hm hm)....

Markus is setting up some colloio graphics for the "package".....Carl wantes them to look nice but rustic at the same time...

Youz guys have been tossing one and the same pedal around? I thought Carl was eager to sell a few "as are" before he made modifications to it (true DI and I think a mid freqs switch). Markus' saying "graphics" implies production, doesn't it?

I (personally) think the LH3 pre will do it for you.....plenty of "gank" IMHO....:hyper:

After consulting some friends of mine who are 'inside guys', I have changed my tune. When I first heard that Dan was stepping down, I was truly upset. True, it won't be the same without Dan, but I think JP has done and will a great job with the company. Hanson is definitely not a 'CBS to Fender' scenario, and I feel bad for feeling that way to start with. I'm gonna continue endorsing and supporting Lakland-the best basses ever....I look forward to a bright future ahead for Lakland!

I know how it goes...I was "shocked" at first myself but, knowing John and Bo I know this will turn out well......like I alluded to, this was the "best" option out there...
