I don't think so. Pre CBS fenders are wanted because they went downhill at that point. Lakland's quality will not change.
Meh. It's impossible to say what will be collectible a half-century from now. But there are more boutique makers these days than the world really knows what to do with, so I'd say that we won't see that kind of value rise in anything currently being made. I'd say just buy the one you like best and save your investing for your broker.
And will we spend the next few years arguing over whether pups are in 70s or 60s spacing?

I remember the 2 very early Laklands (matching pair of 4-94s, fretted and fretless) that didn't even sell recently on eBay. I think the bid for the pair ONLY got up to $2400, very low for 2 of the 1st basses built by Dan and Hugh! I think they were serial numbers 16 & 17, but I could be wrong. Me wanted but me no afford at the time.

Never-the-less... Tommy will get one, whether its pre-hanson or not, I will get the one that plays best.
Argh!!! I should have warned you (did I???) to have Carl epoxy the neck before you got it.....I was having a similar issue (those are stainless steel rounds).....Carl sanded the neck and epoxied it and wallah!!! no more issue...there are a few "minor scrapes on the epoxy but NOTHING like before...also - the epoxy can be redone without touching the neck wood!!
also - anoteh hint...what "bending the string" for mwah...don't "bend it" roll your finger from side to side...same effect (takes some practice) but NO rubbing on the board (advice from Carl)....

That is a custom one of a kind JO with active pre-amp and "goodies"...Jason Scheff (bassist) is the son of Jerry Scheff...
THAT is the bass that introduced me to Lakland...well at least watching that bass on a Chicago DVD did.....I had to keep pausing the DVD to see the name on the headstock....I soon was hooked....
Not sure if he has that one strung BEAD or not....he does have a "limited edition"....35" scale 4 string strung BEAD.

Trivia...what other famous band did backup vocals on the studio recording of that song?
