New Skyline Duck Dunn owner here.

What aftermarket hard case will fit this like a glove? I'll take it to my local Guitar Center and Sam Ash to physically test whatever they have. But thought I'd ask here as someone's likely done all of the work for me already or has an online alternative to something better and less expensive than a local buy from those big boys.

I know a lot of people (myself included) weren't fans of the newer Barts (post 03 or 04 I think?). They tended to be kinda woolly and lifeless to me. When I would try to dial in any high end, it seemed really brittle. I had a couple (maybe 3) 55-02's with Barts, and much preferred my LH3 loaded ones- so much richer and more depth.

Hmm, I'll have to find out what the date on my pickup's are then. I like the sound, but I'm not sure if I'm not 100% sure if I'm happy with it.

A slight misunderstanding. I prefer the LH3 system to the Barts I tried, but they were newer, so I can't speak for the older systems.

To me, and this is all subjective so bear with me, I found the LH3 to be a bit "clearer" and more "crisp", if you will, than the Barts I tried, IMO etc etc

Just put a set of Precision flats on my -02. This is awesome. Playing through my **** little practice crate is actual enjoyable. Looking forward to hearing it through my actual rig!

The first two are rare beasts. Ah, Evan responded.

As for the latter, Ed Friedland's got a four-string version of that (it's called a 4-07 or 55-07, 'cause the Chis were developed in 2007). Here are two clips of him playing it.


We should have a third posted soon--Ed did a clinic at Bass Emporium and used that bass for part of it. I was lucky enough to see the clinic in person.

Call the Bass Place and see if you can get one of these:

It's my impression that the chi's sound a little rough.. they've got more growl to them?

slightly similar to having a passive system?

Now I hear what I like in his playing but it Could be his hands.. Is that the correct impression of chisonics? more growl, bite .. attack?

Hard to be so general with all ChiSonic basses, but a deeper thicker growl. Great note definition...very open sounding, but can get very angry when pushed.

Anyone have some PICKGUARD suggestions for me? I'm having a hard time sourcing a replacement black/white/black guard for my Indonesian Skyline Duck Dunn manufactured in 12/2009.

I actually bought some used guards off an older Skyline Duck Dunn with Lindys. They don't match my instrument. If I force the guard around the neck pocket and pickups, none of the screw holes line up.

Here's what Lakland said to me:

I contacted them about the fact their site only lists Duck Dunn / Glaub guards from 2004-2007 and here's their reply:

If your bass is made in Indonesia you will have to send your guard in for a fit. There will be a 20.00 labor fee to cut a new template so you get a prefect fit. There reason for this is there are no 2 guards alike on these models.
Give me a color i will price it.

Good luck you will not even get one from Lakland to fit.
They take the Korean ones and make them fit by moving screw holes and opening the pickup holes to fit.
If you want to do that you can save 20.00.
32.95 for the guard and Shipping is 27.95 and i can not ship it any cheaper.
