LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #43

I agree. I also know that Roger can be a bit...abrasive (although he's done great work for me many times). There may be some issues with Indo pickguards not matching, but I would venture to say it may be a run to run issue, and not a "no two are alike" issue.

Seems completely insane to me. Stuff should be totally cookie cutter considering the bodies are CnC'ed. But that's just the Joe Consumer in me talking.

Yeah it should be, you're right.

I would of thought by now Roger would of had templates for both kinds of Skyline Glaubs/Dunns, unless he is deliberately not doing so for whatever reason, but he's kind of shooting himself in the foot IMO.

Also, white pearloid, black/white/black, and possibly even red/white/red.

This on all counts....but I don't think they change from run to run.

Regarding pickguards for Indo-Skylines, Roger posted a full explanation on Link Removed just the other day, as well as a workaround suggestion.

Excellent. I hope a new family portrait is on its way :D

Soon :).

Speaking of your pickups, I saw in a few posts where you say how good the old Bart's sound that used to come in Lakies. Just wondering if you knew how the sound of the old Bart's differs from potential newer ones.

All I know is that I love my 2 old Bart sets (pre 2001). I've never had a newer set to compare them too, or a Lakland MM/J & LH3 equipped 55. I've just heard the comments that folks have made. I will admit that they are mellow when compared to say... my growly Tele style Lakie, but they cut thru the mix and sit perfectly no matter what I play. And, I have no trouble dialing in treble if I need it.

I also had a Nordy/audere equipped 55-02 that didn't get a thumbs up from me or my bands when A/Bed against the Barted 55-94.

A slight misunderstanding. I prefer the LH3 system to the Barts I tried, but they were newer, so I can't speak for the older systems.

To me, and this is all subjective so bear with me, I found the LH3 to be a bit "clearer" and more "crisp", if you will, than the Barts I tried, IMO etc etc
Jody would be the man to ask about the older system

Well, not really :) (see above).

White Decades with black pgs just look so righteous.

Agree! As do black Decades w/ black guards.

One is a brand new Glaub. A price so low Leo has one in B stock. He could not beat the price.
Then I'm looking for a 55-02 Deluxe or DJ5 (used).

I'd like to get my mitts on Midas!!

Is the Glaub a US?

Man Freidland's tone is Really nice

It's my impression that the chi's sound a little rough.. they've got more growl to them?

slightly similar to having a passive system?

Now I hear what I like in his playing but it Could be his hands.. Is that the correct impression of chisonics? more growl, bite .. attack?
As Markus said, it's hard to generalize. The 4-07 is really versatile--it comes with humbucking Chi-sonics (with push/pull for single-coil-like operation) and an active/passive switch. (You can also get a passive tone knob added.) The 'buckers sound huge and a little on the dark side, while the singles have more attack and growl. Also, I know Ed got different pots put on his to get more high end out.

FRETLESS US DJ:

it's wearing flats with a little favoring towards the bridge. I love this bass to death!
Very nice!

So get the Glaub and keep Midas!

Its not that easy.
Periodic weeks off work are catching up.
Two sons graduating in a month.
I don't know.....Listen, I know US Laklands are the s**t.
I worry too much about scratching, or dinging it.
I could use the dough to buy my kids graduation gifts(I never got anything when I graduated).
Some decisions are hard, this one was easy. I'm perfectly fine with it.
Plus I'm getting two Skylines with some funds left over.
I've wanted a Glaub for way too long. Can't pass up the deal I found.

Wait for Doug though
