That's awesome! Those Barts IMO really sounded great in her. I'd love to hear her with the Chi's. Yeah, she is a bit heavy. Heavier than I even realized til you told me what she weighed. My other 55-94 had the Lakie pups which definitely sound good, but those Barts will always have a place in my heart. Well, how the heck are ya man ? Things are good my way. I'm training like a mad man with the new job and all.

Yeah, that neck seemed a little different than my other 55-94. I don't know what it was about it, but it was just magic IMO. Maybe it was just all that birdseye or something! In all seriousness, I was able to get the action so low on that bass that it was truly effortless to play.

So I usually gig, at least 95% of the time, with one of my 44-01 or 55-01 basses, usually strung with flats. That being the case, my 44-02 with medium rounds doesn't see a lot of playing time except for studio stuff, or on the rare occasion that I pull it out for a bar gig. Since all the venues in NC are smoke-free now, I have been pulling it out a bit more and have played all my shows and rehearsals this week with the 44-02 to really 'get to know' it even more, even after having owned it for a couple of years now. I really have been working on getting the baseline EQ and pickup settings nailed down for my favorite Jazz, MM, P-Bass, etc. sounds, as well as approximating the 44-01 sound that I love. I had a general idea of what I was going for in most cases, but I really did my homework over the last few days and got things fleshed out with some quantifiable 'definite' settings. After much experimentation I have found that the only sound I can't nail to my liking is a P-Bass sound. It gets close, but not close enough. I can live with it for a gig of course, but it looks like I'm going to have to add a Glaub to my arsenal at some point to really get that P sound I need/want. My favorite setting outside of the full-on both-pickup sound is splitting the MM pickup to the front coil, panning to about 1 or 2 o'clock (if looking at the bass directly), and boosting the treble and bass to taste. It gets close to my 44-01 sound that I love, but with a lot more girth and power. Heaven! Anyway, since I'm having GAS pains lately I thought I'd share my story of 'rediscovering' my 44-02 all over again. I was seriously thinking about trading it for a Glaub for a hot minute but then realized how much else I'd be missing out on.

Yeah, older Barts are pretty special to me too. I've got some in this beauty.

Yeah, she sets up VERY well!

lol, well I can help you point it in a more specific direction if need be. haha! Glad all is well your way! Yeah, I never thought I'd be controlling aircraft in the sky growing up as a kid, but I'm loving every minute of it so far!
