hey guys....last night in Germany, then home tomorrow. Good Beer, and 2 bottles of 30 year old scotch while in scotland. Good trip. Ready to get back to my girls and my lakies. I am really gassing for a DJCS or a JOCS. I need to find one.

I'm certainly still new at the game. However, when I bought into the low end (Bass), I went with Lakland. Great instruments!
There's tons of data to sift through, I'll likely be behind the scenes chewing on it as I find time... With a 3 year old in the house, I'm left to juggle between the two as many of you know.

Yeh - there is something special about Lakland frertless necks....I had a 44-02 fretlessprior to my 55-94 fretless and I believe it had the same neck profile as the one you have....
I was shy at first and am still not quite as fast on a fretless neck but I do find a certain amount of freedom with the fretless and it just seems smoother to play....I like it so much that i am getting a fretless neck for my Skyline JO5 (Woody)!!!

OK OK.....it is a "passive tone knob".....people would complain that they lost some tonal control when they went passive on the basses....this knob is SUPPOSED to only work when the pre-amp is in passive mode but mine worked in both active and passive when I first got it....
Carl Pedigo said that was not possible since it was not "hooked up" that way....but I showed him that it did...kind of a "push it to 11" effect....adds a little more treble etc. in active mode
anyways - when i had it refinished, he 'fixed" it so it only worked in passive mode ("The way it was MEANT to be" according to Carl).....I told him that I never play passive and wanted it to work in active as well....well, He gave me that "oh god!" look and his eyes rolled but then he did it...he is ALL about customer service!
I have only seen them on humbucking CHI equipped basses to date....Ed Friedland has one on his 44-07, Markus has one on his 44-07 and I believe there is one on the 44-07 that Matty has (had???).

I'm actually legitimately saving my money right now
I can see a new bass in my future come Christmas time
...or maybe sooner if I'm lucky
