nice bass, and nice pics!!!
The bodies are longer in the back. See where the bridge is?
I'll have to weigh it...feel pretty light...I'm sure wood is still a big factor.
My alder body Decade weighs in at a very comfortable 9.2 lbs.
How would you solve that (hole alignment) ? Fill the holes in the neck and re-drill ? (That's something I'd have give to a Luthier whereas a straight swap I could do myself)All Skyline 5 string necks, with the exception of the DJ5, are the same neck. The holes may not exactly line up, but the sizing is the same.
Sorry... "sandwich" as in many layers of (often) exotic woods laminated together like a lot of the single cut ERBs etc etc.
Your bass is definitely not ugly w/ the wood knobs though, BTW.
Nice - Welcome to the Lakland #01 Club! It's exclusive!![]()
What do you guys think.? Black metal knob or chrome metal knobs.?

block or original....
Well it's very late and I just got back from my round of weekend gigs in Gulfport, MS with the 55-01 I received a couple days ago. I LOVE it so far; sounded thick and righteous through my MarkBass/Epifani rig going through the house. Tons of punch and clarity, while still retaining an old-school presence. I'm even digging the halfrounds that came on it-nice warm tone and still enough snap and treble to cut through, even with slap. Giving my calluses a nice workout too. This is definitely a "swiss army knife bass", can cover alot of genres. This bass kills and I've had alot of love/hate relationships with fivers. The wide string spacing and flat board really agree with me. I've definitely caught the buzz about Lakland! I'll post some pics after I get some much needed rest. Cheers!
glad you love it!!!!! The Lakland 5er neck is really nice! I love them!
So, now it's time to change back to Lakland :p;)
nice save ....:D
glad that you dig it! It's a great bass
but, wait until you try a -02, ho ho ho
hey guys...I need to catch up a bit but greetings from Switzerland!
Guys.... those of you who like the -02 series. Convince me why the 02 is worth the extra $$$ over the 01. Personally I the 01 lacks in the visual department but thats just me.
I took some pics of my DJ using my new camera, and figured you guys might like to see them...
I'll bite..
Just sold my 55-02 and picked this up!

Other than new basses for many of us addicts, the only REAL big news is John P. (COO) moving to CEO of Lakland. Dan is leaving.
