Played Blue Velvet today in church along with my fretless...OMG!!!

What a fine lady Blue is!!!! grindy and grumpy with the rest but she can also sound nice and mellow when she wants to!

She really seems to have significantly more high end now!!! I do not even have to have the treble cranked that far......I am in SERIOUS LOVE!!!

Wish the heck i could slap!!!! she would sound excellent slapped and popped!

congrats!!!! about time they gave you a promotion! Does this mean a transfer to Chicago is out?

DON'T DO IT!!!! If you REALLY MUST have a rosewood neck...order one from Leo.....that is one light and sweet bass!!!

I would sell you the one from my JO5 but I want to keep it for variety...

BTW - there is ONLY one AMBER and John has it....yours is Amber SouthEast! he he he!!!

Aaron sweet! Never seen the entire collection together before! that is really nice....LOVE all of the various quilting and the blocks look sweet on the BG!

I think the new OCD is quilting!!!

LOL...thanks doude. I think about getting rd of amber, but I get her out and play her. Then I change my mind. Chicago is still in the mix...i am still looking my options. I may need some help from you to get what I really want from lakland. I will shoot you a PM.

Im a long time musicman fan..Die hard almost..

But Im getting my new 5502 this week... Took the lakland plunge..

Sadly, they only had black/maple combo...so thats what I got....Im usually a rosewood fan.

I had the option of natural deluxe (the quilted top) with the rosewood. Did I do right?

Any encouraging words for a Lakland newbie?

Oh, and Im moving back to CHicago in august.

hey bro! Welcome to the sickness....lol. My advice is take some time and explore all the settings. The 55-02's are so versatile. Also, unless you know what you like, experiment with strings. I am a big fan of Nickels. Besides that, enjoy that thing! PM basspraiser for a LOG number and remeber to check out Link Removed

the Black and tan is a nice combo......as is the quilt and RW....I would have done the natural and RW but I am a true sucker for quilting!!! that being said, I can see a "not so distant" purchase of a black 55-02 for a project!

I would compare the MM sound from the 55-02 to your MM and also the quality for the price.....I think you will see that the "j/k" in RumbleBeeAL's post below may not need to be there....

congrats and have fun on the Lakland Journey!!!

Hey guys,

thanks for the encouraging words. I dont know why I am so damn nervous...

I did want the natural/rosewod standard, but they only had that in deluxe..

Not only is this my first Lakland, but its my first maple neck....

Cant wait.

I really think you will like it!!!

I am a RW guy as well...but the ONE bass I NEVER should have gotten rid of has a maple neck and I have Blue Velvet which also has a maple neck and which plays like a dream(see earlier post)...

Hey - BTW - when you move to CI-toen let GregC and I know....we LOVE to get together with other bass playas!!!

Welcome! I'm a rosewood guy myself, but I've been eyeing some black and maple basses lately. Such a killer, classic combo! You'll lover it man! Something about those -94/-02 models for sure!

I was in town last week visiting friends and I managed to visit Lakland on wed... Very nice bunch.....

Of course, if you are not into that kind of thing, be sure to let them know up front! again, j/k

LOL!!!!!

Right on Doude! It's the top!

Maybe...but I am NOT 100% convinced....it sounds SOOoooooo different...I wonder if he put a different LH3 in here (I mean a different one than I had - not a different model etc)....or maybe he "tweaked" somehting....will have to ask next time I see/talk to him...but as i said...SCHWING baby SCHWING!

+1

I am a rosewood guy but there is something about a Black and Maple with a torte pickguard....especially on a P or a Jazz!

yup - I agree!

I was in town last week visiting friends and I managed to visit Lakland on wed... Very nice bunch.....

yeh - i read about your trip....let us know next time you are in town....

I can Guarantee the level of service and support you get from lakland will be MUCH better than what you can get from MM....just sayin.....can you call up Ernie Ball directly? if you do, will he return your call? MAYBE ...... but you KNOW JP or Leo will!

Luke - you BEAT me to it! I was JUSt in that thread and was going to come here to post something similar to what you JUST did!!!

So you are saying there is that kind of variance in LH3 pres?

:scowl:
:rollno:
:eyebrow:

It's the T:eyebrow:P!

not sure.....used to think "NO".....but this HAS to be more than just the top....has to be.....maybe he "hot rodded it"?

He used the uber resonant stain. Thats what I would have done. It has EQ built in...or maybe he put in a new battery for him! :hiding:

ha ha......:spit:
