I did go to Lakland last week and hung out with Leo... It was great!

Not really. See below.I guess things are starting to slow down in the Lakland world...
well, the 44-01 and 55-01 basses use the same outer casing and the screw holes are what is getting in the way.....there is a "tunnel" through the pickup cover for the screw and the 5 string CHIs cannot fit....if that makes sense.
Bo is working on it....hard because he knows people want it!
Aatron - they DO.....these are just direct drop ins for the 44-01....std CHIs do not fit and the holes would have to be re-routed...you CAN get those iff you want but you (or someone) would have to route = more $$$$!

most of us are still posting the same amount....just "spreading it out" a bit...
Guys - what do Laklands come strung with from the factory? Do you know the gauges and material (i.e stainless, nickel) for a Skyline Decade?
I just got a gig out of the blue coming up and need to put my own strings on this and my other basses, but just found out that my main strings of some >35 years, Rotosound Swing Bass Stainless 45-105s, are no longer sold where I live*, so I'm in a bit of a panic.
I could order from Amazon but they may take to long to arrive overseas.
The original strings that are on the bass now are so-so, but too taut for me even though I prefer really taut strings, and they have that gritty nickel feel to them.
The shop here has Swing Bass 40-95s but as I remember those are too light for my style of playing, plus I'd have to get my basses re-set up for them.
It's been a long time since I had to boil strings, but that is really a last resort...

If they're new, feel abrasive, and have gray thread (IIRC) they'd be Lakland (made by GHS) stainless strings. Not sure what Lakland nickels' thread color is.
