Well, after 483 years of waiting (well, it seemed that way...lol) she finally arrived!

So I tried the 55 JJ Chi passive with the Sadowsky pre/DI through my Ampeg.
Shortly, it does add some to the bass. I think I would prefer this bass active. But, I wouldn't pay that kind of money for that pedal. I must be uber-spoiled by Lakland, he he.
Also, the sound is still not what I need, so... Wanna change your 5-string US ash body for my alder US 55 JJ CS, anyone?

I am so pumped! My new (used) USA Hollowbody Deluxe came in today. I love it! The neck is just amazing. The neck is even better than my JO4 neck, and that one is fantastic. I am usually not a big Bart fan, but the Bart's on this bass are great. It has JO Flats on it and I love flats - have them on most of my basses. I may try rounds to experiment, but right now, this guy has a WIDE palate of tones available. I can't put it down. Action is perfect, frets perfect, and zero dead spots (thank you graphite neck reinforcements)!
Plays like a dream, well balanced, and light (weighs 8.25 lbs!).
Top notch fit and finish. Nice flame maple top, and the finish looks like a '59 sunburst that you see on a lot of Sadowsky's.

The East Indian rosewood with birdeye maple dots is really beautiful. Tried to show that in the pics, but they really don't do justice here.

I LOVE IT!!
Might I suggest an Audere classic 4 band in the 3 stacked knob version?
It did wonders for my Decade with Dark Stars, fits easily in the control cavity & didn't have to drill any new holes!

Thanks! Yeah, I bought it on TB. Got a good price from a great guy. It's an early one, in mint condition, serial number HB31.
You're always so helpful, Doug!
Though that new flamed maple J bass is what's really got me thinking. I think I may be changing my Sadowsky order so's I can justify another active J, which would definitely be one of those new Lakkies. I think I'd kind of want to in Marcus Orange.

that is beautiful.....
i love it!
i am a sucker for block inlays!!!
Can anyone tell me how the bart soapbars found in current 55-01's compare tonally to my two reference points ... the barts in a 55-94 (2005) and the Lakland pickups in a recent 55-02 ?
I know I'll miss the split pickup over the other two ... just thinking of the base tone. Vintage ? Modern ? Fat ?
I've never played a 55-01, but one's come up and I'm thinking I might go for it. It's got an LH3 pre but I'm thinking the pickups will contribute more to the basic character.

Few more impressions about the LOG bass after playing for a few days.
Sound is awesome, just what I was looking for! The Neo Punch with flats seems to have enough aggressiveness but still nice and smooth for classic rock, motown, etc.
One thing I noticed though is that the B and E strings are one coil, and the A, D, and G strings are on the other. Is is worth flipping the pickup or even possible so that B E A are on one and D G on the other?

Nice!
Have you considered a blocked neck on your next bass?
I keed! I Keed!
Nice looking crew that is.
