Yeah, I've just commented over at the NDB thread.
I'm not sure yet, but I might go for one of the moderns instead of the standard. I walked into the shop fully expecting to not like the modern models (or whatever they're calling them. Their the ones with the diamond control layout and the slightly different body shape), but the one I played felt really nice and sounded tight. Anyway, it's a massive change from the Standard model I've got pointed out and hanging on the wall next to my computer, but I'll have decided one way or the other by the time I order at the end of this year. After that, I might want to either get in on those spanky new Lākland active jazzes or kick Echo up to a 55-94.
I remember that. I'd already realised that my chances were zip for this project, so I figured I should stay out of the convo.
BTW, Howcome we don't all know what amps and cabs we've got our Lakkies hooked up to? I've just realised that I have absolutely no idea what your basses speak out of.
Might I suggest an Audere classic 4 band in the 3 stacked knob version?
It did wonders for my Decade with Dark Stars, fits easily in the control cavity & didn't have to drill any new holes!
I was thinking getting a LH-3 stompbox from Carl ...
Do you happen to have sound samples?

Got to play your 44-51 at NAMM today. BROTHER, what a player! Specially with those flats! I especially liked the width and depth of the neck.
Also, the differences between the 51 and 51M were surprising. The contours, split vs single p-up, and necks really do create two different animals. While the 51 holds onto that old soul, the 51M gives you some modern versatility without sounding exactly like the 51 or 64.
Alls I need now is a skyline PJ and I'll be in love forever haha

Well...this is the case with other pickups too...like Darkstars. If you don't like it, sell and buy one with standard pickups. I don't think it would be hard to sell a bass with ChiSonics.
Heh. Point taken. But what I meant was that we all talk about how our basses sound, but I find that the amp and cab plays a pretty major role in that sound, so I'm wondering how Doug's two Ps would sound coming out of My Ashdown rig, for instance.
Er, which reminds me: Mine's an older, British-made ABM EVO II 500 and an ABM Mini 210 cab. I'd really like a second of the cab at some point, but no hurry...

The Auderes hi/low mid pots add so much flexibility to all the possible mids the Dark Stars have to offer.
Being able to boost/cut select mids not just cut a predefined mid like in the passive world, thats whats so awesome about the preamp.
Also, & very importantly it doesnt color the sound like a lot of preamps do, putting their sound in the mix.
Its the pickups talkin not the preamp.
+1 It seems the folks who like the ChiSonics are a bit fanatical about them, in a good way that is. Should be easy to flip a bass that had them loaded I'd suspect.
as of now, players in this country are not familiar with chi sonics and are not eager for them. I've found little or no interest to Nessie while I could easily flip the 55-94

The ChiSonics I won are almost ready, Bo was applying the epoxy right before leaving for NAMM, these are going to drop into my 5501. So I will Chi my 5501 and receive a new LOG P5 and I think I am done - everything else might get sold off : ) (oh yeah and I have a B15 on the way too).
