Cool on you, bro! I agree about the 55-02. I actually went back to playing a 55-02 recently because I think the recorded tone on it sounded much better than even the Lakland DJ and Fender Jazz basses I had used after. After recording a few things since getting another 55-02, the tone is right there were I had left it. It just works beautifully in the studio.

Now the tone...
Super thick, clear, and juicy highs. Big punch you in the gut lows, and jab and uppercut mids. The mids have more texture then my Glaubs. They hit you a little higher in the frequency range. If the Glaub's tone is a big wrestler, the 44-51's tone is an Ultimate Fighter, if that makes sense. Sharper cutting tone..that sits a little higher. Totally lovin' it!

hey Markus, could you snap some photos of the '51 without the chrome cover? Just for compare/contrast purposes, you understand...

Meanwhile, us mere mortals will try and wipe the dribble off our computer keyboards...
