Here is my pride and joy Lakland 55 94. It has to be the lightest one that I have ever laid my hands on. I almost sold it but came to my senses and realized I would never find another one like it. It weighs in at 8 pounds 2 ounces and sounds incredible.

I forgot my Lakland club member #. Could who ever runs the club pm me with it. Thanks.

Sweet! I love those old bluebursts. Shoot a PM to "basspraiser" to get your number.

Hey guys,

Just curious... how many of you guys have installed Delano pups into your Lakland???

I've got a 55-02 and a Skyline Joe Osbourn 5 and I'm thinking of doin some experimenting. :bassist:

I put the j pickups with the bigger pole pieces in a DJ4 a few years ago. Sounded good, but after a few tests the Hanson's were gooder and went back in.

Hmmmmm interesting....

I've got the pre-Hanson pickups - so I'm assuming they are Lakland pups (I think the Fralins only came on the US models).

They sound really good - but they have that dreaded 60-cycle hum. So I'm in the market for a noiseless pickup.

I'm lookin at the Delanos, Nordstrand, DiMarzio Area J's, Joe Bardens (although I'm not sure his are noiseless).

Can you get noiseless Hanson Jazz pickups???

No problem! I thought that there were three of those basses, when you bought yours, and one had just that. J pickups in ChiSonic cases.

There was Denis Black one, Midas , which definately had Chis, then a Canday Apple Red with maple that was on Ebay(may still be). I thought the CAR had the Jazz in Chi casings

You are correct John...I almost bought the CAR one from Leo, until he told me they were not real Chi's

that would be correct. The CAR one was the last one to go because Leo had asked me what color I'd prefer as they were having 2, a black one and a CAR one, and I chose the black one for Nessie. the CAR JJ eventually got a BEM board and Lakland singles inside the CHI -singles covers

Aaron, the black one with THE REAL Chis is still out there waiting for you... I MIGHT know the right guy... :hiding:

Bass delivered today! Even better then I expected! Really beautiful in person! My first maple necked Lakland...man...I see what you guys love about them! The neck is super compy for my big hands. It has a deeper profile then other Laklands. Nice grain showing through the finish...totally stoked camper!

Now the tone...
Super thick, clear, and juicy highs. Big punch you in the gut lows, and jab and uppercut mids. The mids have more texture then my Glaubs. They hit you a little higher in the frequency range. If the Glaub's tone is a big wrestler, the 44-51's tone is an Ultimate Fighter, if that makes sense. Sharper cutting tone..that sits a little higher. Totally lovin' it!

Lighting not quite right for photos, but:
