I think a white guard w/ chrome cover would look super hot on the LOG bass, especially the ones w/ maple fretboards.

Still not sure if the cover is staying or not. It's velcroed onto the plastic covering the pickguard....

I like the look of chrome covers, but the reduced hand placement choices they represent always make me go 'no' on 'em. Personally, I like to play right where the covers end up.

I'm right there with ya. Plus, I keep my basses in gig bag, and I just envision that cover getting caught up and doing some damage to the pickguard.

But then again, I find that how a bass looks is FAR more important than how it sounds or how comfortable it is to play. I'm gonna get some inlay stickers (maybe donkeys) and put them on all the empty spaces on the fretboard, then get stickers of that girl that is on all those trucker's mudflaps for the body of the bass (or maybe stickers of bands that spent their money making stickers instead of taking lessons).

And even though you were being sarcastic, well, even a colorblind paractitioner of zen succumbs to the visual side ( very low frequency mentally - but it sells, witness Lady Gaga), as I sent the best sounding ash/maple J bass I've ever had the priveldge of owning to Pat Wilkins for a little BLING treatment.

Covers get in my way ( I use left hand position ALOT to alter sound> In fact, I'm beginning to prefer J basses with no pickguard or surface routing. Clean man, Nice and clean.

Yep. I tend to move my right hand around the bass at times, and it does seem to occupy the exact place that my right hand likes to travel. It was a fun experiment, though!
