I'm new to the Lakland family. While I haven't had a lot of dealings with Lakland I have talked to Leo and Brian numerous times and they are First Class all the way.

Well, let's just say that it will be replaced by something just as spectacular. I'm just a Maple P guy, but don't worry, I'm still a metal flake guy too!

Been playing my early Candy apple 55-01 5-8 times a week at gigs for the last year. Tried out a friend's early version black 55-02 with maple board and Barts and honestly......it was just too tame. I feel like I have more control tonally with the 01 and can bring out the stank or cushion with technique and EQ. The Barts equipped 02 was softer, less aggressive and a bit subdued. Great bass, but I think i really lucked out with mine. Any similar feelings?

Not a lot of fans of the post 2000 (year) Barts in the '02s.... just too dark and woolly from what I've heard. My '96 or '97 55-94 (avatar pic) can do anything! It's Barts are my favorite, used them for my hard rock band (and jazz fusion stuff too) and it always got the nod from engineers in the studios too when A/B'd against my Dingwalls and other 5ers.

Soapbars are great too and I still plan on getting an 01 someday.

We need pics when it arrives! Mine should be close to being completed but I'm not sure if it will take longer because of the Chi-Sonics upgrade on mine.

It's more than that, actually. Different pickups, different preamps, Korean electronics vs. US-made ones (the 02s had US Barts, now they have Lakland's electronics, which aren't dark like the later Barts), more finish choices--and a quilted top for the Deluxe 02s, which are more expensive than the "Standard" 02s and usually what you see in stores.

this board has long come to a conclusion that it's all the matter of taste...

I saw that. Very nice bass.

I bought a Skyline JO5 from that dealer a few years ago. Very straightforward and easy guy to deal with. Anyone interested in that bass shouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger.
