Took my DJ to her first jam today! Since my family's Peavey stack is out of commission for now I had to play through a 100w Carvin combo amp. Sounds GREAT at lower volume but when I push it up to compete with the drums and guitar the amp started having some problems. Still, she felt awesome to play, definitely a keeper!

Markus, I think that '51 has become my favorite of your collection... though it's awfully close between it and that Coral Pink beauty. I also really loved the Silver Surfer, too bad about it being fretless:hiding:

About a year ago, I was really contemplating getting my JO refinished in Coral Pink and had ( I can't for the life of me think of his username at this moment, but I believe the original owner of your bass) send me some pics of that P. So i've been drooling over your bass before you got your lucky, grubby, little paws on it;)

Oh, and here's a pic with the cover for ya...

He he he! Those two are some of my favs too! "Artiseasy" (Ian, the guy that did the audio clips on the Lakland site) is who used to own it...and I was drooling over it then too! I was hoping that some of his skills would rub off on it, but alas... it wasn't meant to be:-(

Man...though....really lovin' this 44-51! Love the neck profile...makes my j necks feel like toothpicks! That combined with the slab body, gives this bass the "I don't want to meet it in a dark alley" feel:-) So pure, and meaty:D

There's that guard...that's the business!

Hey there,

I have had this Lakland Skyline 55-60 Custom for awhile now...finally got around to taking a couple of pics....as crappy as they may be (some mad photographical skills goin' on in the Lakland club...wow!) As I have seen posted here a few times, look out, one Lakland leads to many more...luckily they are a lilttle harder to come by in Canada...would love a Pre-style Lakie...

On that note, if a dude wanted a Lakland Skyline 44-64 custom...in a color OTHER than red (I am wanting natural mostly...but a sunburst would work too) do I have no choice but to get the US model?? It would appear so...I may end up STILL getting the Skyline and having it painted or refinished..that is too big a leap for a US model that will essentially be a backup...I really love the 55-60...very comfy and fun to play and sounds great...

Can you hook a Canadian up with a # ?? Or is this a "no skylines" club??

Welcome and congrats! Skylines are very much allowed, they're great basses! That Hollowbody with Dark Stars I posted on the previous page is a Skyline, among others here.:)

Love the classic look of that JO/55-60! Please PM "basspraiser" for a number, and check out Link Removed for lots more Lakland discussion and info.

As to your other question: The 44-64 custom Skyline model normally comes only in CAR, it's true. Now, if you like teal green or inca silver, Lakland made special runs of both in Skylines in 2010, so there should be a few floating around stores or for sale used. Otherwise, you'll need to go the refinishing route. However, it's not that costly, from what I understand. Pat Wilkins, who does the finishes for US Laklands and Sadowslys, is great and great to work with. He'd me my first call.
