IIRC, Skylines had Bartolinis, not Aeros in them
Anyway, great bass, congrats!

DJs with Bartolinis? I am afraid that's not correct. DJs were Aeros when they started, Skyline or not. Later they changed them, but in 2003 they were Aeros. Easy to check though: remove the plate and check the leads from the pickups to the pots. Aeros have black and white plastic coated leads. Check this post by Mr. Matt:

Woohoo! Here's a recording of me with the famous Metropole Orchestra. Bass used is my 55-60, the piece is The Juggler by Weather Report :) [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Just picked up used '03 DJ4... I think it has aero pickups. Sound really wonderfull... More aggressive than most passive jazzbasses that im used to, and little "fuller". I had one gig already with this one and its coming to next gig also ;) :bassist:

Very cool! I have a CD of Elvis Costello live with the Metropole, they're great.:)

Just a heads up to all the lakkie fans. My DJ5 is up for grabs in the classifieds now. Hope I'm not infringing on any rules by posting this here, just figured it would be polite to give the LOG guys a heads up! :D

No problem! You might want to consider posting at Link Removed too.

I've got a quick question. A couple months ago I picked up my first Lakland, a 55-02 and I love it. Best bass I've owned and I can't put it down. Now it's not my only active bass so I know you're not supposed to leave them plugged in when you're not playing, this is common knowledge to me. Here's my question. With this bass can I just pull out the volume knob and put it in passive mode and leave it plugged in? Does that drain the battery or not?

Good question... I suspect the answer is No!

By design, the 1/4" jack on the unit operates as the power switch when a plug is inserted... The Push/Pull Volume knob simply bypasses the pre-amp's output signals though still powered by the battery.

Therefore, if I am correct, when the cable is plugged in and the knob is pulled out, you would in effect be wasting the battery and not saving it.

We'll see what the experts have to say...
