Really excited to get an AJ. Wish I could get it in a burst. I will go with cherry I think then maybe in another 2 years pick up a USA burst with blocks for a graduation gift... That's the plan anyway. We will see what gas says

I'm also undecided about them, though I'm pretty sure I don't want a 44-51.

I'm unsure of the AJs for a few reasons:
1) I'm ordering an NYC S*d*wsk* next month, so an AJ might be too much overlap (unless... Hm, a lined fretless, maybe?), and
2) I really didn't like what the one in the Guitar World (?) review sounded like, though in all honesty, the reviewer sounded like he knew nothing about the bass.
3) the colour choices for the Skylines leave me completely cold Put one out in Markus orange and I'd be sorely tempted.

Thanks for the info! I might bite on a P5 I saw on here knowing that. I'm assuming the refinish cost varies based on what you want. I'm probably just looking for a solid color or maybe a translucent color.

as you know (see below) teh refin costs do not vary that significantly.....PM em sometime...maybe we can comapre P5s when yours gets back...gregC and I are always up fro a road trip!

You could purchase a Lakland-branded hardshell case they sell separately for the Skylines, they're reasonably priced and look really nice. And if you find yourself in the city on the North side, you could swing by and pick one up at the shop. Just let them know you're coming first.

Thanks! I've already been in contact with Pat Wilkins and will likely send the bass off for the refin once I have a chance to play it a little after it arrives.

Planning on a translucent green finish similar to the Sherwood Green - there's a darker trans green sample on the Wilkins site which looks good to me. I always wanted a trans teal EBMM and to me this color looks very close to it, plus I have enough EBMM's. The seller had a black p/g on it already so I think it will look really nice with the rosewood board.

Good idea about the case. I like my cases to be branded with what is inside them. I definitely want a hardshell to send it to Wilkins in.

Those gigbags look so much better than the crass Levi's POS I got with my original 55-02. If I didn't have such a sweet iGig bag, I'd be sorely tempted.

teh new Lakie gig bags are fantastic Jess! once you catch up on your sleep I recommend you go online and order one....I am all gig bag now....never used to trust them....now I do...

Recently traded in my Deluxe 44-02 for a MM Stingray SLO Special HH. After a very brief honeymoon , the 'ray was traded in for a Fender P. Still wanting a '2nd'* bass, I looked at a BG4 & JO4 Skyline. Once I got the 44-02 back in my hands, I decided it was the perfect complement to my P, so I bought back my old 44-02!

* 2nd as in wanting 2 basses; not implying the 44-02 takes a back seat.

John (Gecko 5) sold me his 55-64 LOG LE bass in a Gator case. I don't have a bass just yet but somehow it fits.

Well Markus I am giving serious thought to borrowing your mai tai burst. I think it would look nice on the deluxe top. Or maybe a different type of transparent burst

Hi there! I'm no expert on music shops in those areas, but I can offer a little general advice. Lakland hollowbodies can be difficult to find in a store, although their recent run of trans-burgundy models should increase your chances. Your best bet for now might be to go through the dealers list on Lakland's site and check the websites of the shops in those cities.

Also, here's a recent demo from a fine bass shop in Texas that has one in stock.

OR - start a thread in the "Wanted" sectin of TB and tell them that you will be here with cash in hand.....you know.... $100 bills....waiting to be spent on an HB!

I picked up JoshB's 55-01. Has dual coils and the OBP-3. A nice companion to the 55-02 I picked up last month. One's going to get flats...probably the 55-02, since it seems to have a warmer feel to it already. The only change I might make to the 55-01 is to add 3-way coil tap switches, but I think I am going to play it as is for a little while.

Now...my goal is ignore any FS Skyline 55-60's or 55-64's...for the time being.

Having spent a few hours with it in hand, I really like it. Josh had it strung through the bridge, and I was surprised at the tension difference vs body-through. Having this and the -02, I now can play with different setups, but still get the Lakland playability which I have already fallen in love with.

I am not sure if I would go with trans red or trans charcoal, but the price point is pretty good. They say that they are shipping in October...right around my birthday...hmmmm.

...or a 55-51???? I played Markus' a couple of weeks ago and was floored by the sound....loved it....even IF it were a four....

...easy solution...sell all of the "poor" aprts basses and buy 1-2 GREAT lakies....problem solved.....

Yes, but if you played 5s, I could buy them as you got tired of them. Especially if they were in Markus orange or that pretty new burst of yours.
