Hello all lakland fans! I'm coming to the USA (from belgium) in september and I'm looking to buy me a Lakland hollowbody bass! Do you happen to know some shops in California or around las vegas that have some in stock? Or are any of you tryning to sell their HB's?

My trip will be: las vegas, LA, SF in 2 weeks (road trip).

besides that, any venues to be sure to check out in these cities?

cheers!

Hi there! I'm no expert on music shops in those areas, but I can offer a little general advice. Lakland hollowbodies can be difficult to find in a store, although their recent run of trans-burgundy models should increase your chances. Your best bet for now might be to go through the dealers list on Lakland's site and check the websites of the shops in those cities.

Also, here's a recent demo from a fine bass shop in Texas that has one in stock.

Here's a sound clip of a Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub 4 I recently purchased right here in the TB Classifieds. I'm in love with this bass, it's everything I could want in a P bass. I'm not quite used to the neck but it's comfortable. I think it's gonna be a long fun ride.

I used the DI out of an RH450 set flat into a Mackie 1604-VLZ3 and recorded that onto a Zoom H4N. Tone on the P bass just slightly rolled off.

Very nice, man! Sweet bass and some good groovin' going on.:) What kind of flats are you using?

If you'd like a number, PM "basspraiser". And definitely check out Link Removed for more Lakie info, discussion and such.

Thanks, this one completes my quest for my personal "Best Of" Skyline Tri-Fecta. This year I've picked up a used cherry burst 44-02 and this Glaub here, and an Inca Silver 44-60 new from an online retailer.

I think the strings are DR Sunbeams, It also came with a new set of chromes but I haven't put em on yet.

I'm a happy man :-) these basses are just excellent. I am a member over at LOG, but both here and there I don't have much to add to the discussion except that I love em.

I thought for sure those were flats--just goes to show how golden my ears are.:o

Cool, that's a fine trio--glad you're loving them!

Time to join the club!

Just got this from a TB'er and really dig the sound so far. Skyline 55-64.

Now the dilemma. I really do not like the finish but I don't know if I can bear to be give it up for 4-5 weeks for the refinish. Maybe after I play it for a couple weeks. :)

Number please!

I picked up JoshB's 55-01. Has dual coils and the OBP-3. A nice companion to the 55-02 I picked up last month. One's going to get flats...probably the 55-02, since it seems to have a warmer feel to it already. The only change I might make to the 55-01 is to add 3-way coil tap switches, but I think I am going to play it as is for a little while.

Now...my goal is ignore any FS Skyline 55-60's or 55-64's...for the time being. :)

long story short: it is like a regular bridge pickup for a 55-94 from Hanson (they are quadbuckers if you didn't happen to know) and its neck companion, matched and tweaked in output and peak resonance

long story short but a bit longer: a while ago I came up with an idea that, the Lakland Hanson LH-3 pickups being linear humbuckers (bridge pup = two times linear humbucker, i.e four coils), Lakland could go for a neck MM pickup where the coils could be connected diagonally, thus emulating a P-bass pickup architecture (and probably sound). They had that documented and said they might try it in the future. Not yet tho.

Since I am a representative of the minority that can't come to adore ChiSonic pickups, I took them out of my bass, and the pickup rings are just too big for regular singles, so I ordered two switchable humbuckers. BTW you may see what it will look like here:

not bad to me!

Having spent a few hours with it in hand, I really like it. Josh had it strung through the bridge, and I was surprised at the tension difference vs body-through. Having this and the -02, I now can play with different setups, but still get the Lakland playability which I have already fallen in love with.

nice one Hess!
