I have one of the original Duck Dunn skyline models (maple p-neck, burst body, &anodized pickguard)

I have a question though, and I'm up for any suggestions at this point. Right now the tone on mine is just plain dead.... I can't figure it out. I've taken it to a buddy who worked for Lakland for 5 years and he can't figure it out either. All I can say is it sounds like it's strung with 40 year old strings and the tone knob is completely rolled off. The volume level is putting out where it needs to be, there's just no punch at all.

Any ideas at all? I've replaced the tone capacitor, and am all out of ideas.

Please advise.

I just picked up a Lakland skyline 55-60 limited edition (2011) in teal green metallic the other day. Its amazing. :bassist:
Sweet, congrats! I do like that teal green a lot. If you'd like a LOG number, send a PM to bassprasier. And check out Link Removed for more info and discussion.:)

Picked up this fretless beauty from the TB classifieds. 2006 55-02, black and ebony. It is in great condition, and right out of the box the Lakland scale felt and LH-3 tone sounded just RIGHT! So want to bring it for the gig on Saturday, but I will leave it for some future live joy. GHS black nylon tapewounds are going on it when I get it set up next week.

Now...the pics.

So, my personal trifecta is complete: 55-02 fretted, 55-01 modded, and a 55-02 fretless. Not that I am stopping at three...I mean, I have to get at least one bass in Markus Orange, right? Oh, and a custom PJ...and a special J-J like basspraiser just listed...and something with Chisonics...and a Scheff...and...:hiding:

Nice :) If I didn't already own almost the same thing (minus the tort guard) I'd be very jealous.

Please let us know how it goes with the tapewounds. I enjoy the sound of tapes on my RA Deep 5 (ebony 'board, fretless) and of course with the black/ebony combo on the 55-02 it would just complete the look. Until I take that plunge with the 55-02 it's Labella flats for me.
