Yeah...I think I do see a little difference there. The overlay can be off a little bit depending on the two camera angles. Se how the volume knob isn't lined up between the two? From what I remember John just mensioned the lower horn being different when I put it on the site.

getting kudos on the sound and plying is always a plus!

Did the gig this past Sat night with the messed up bass . . . but it turned out OK! I spent Sat afternoon doing a Carl Pedigo (videos) setup on it, and did a final tuning and got it to within a few cents of each other just with "open" and the "harmonic" on the 12th . . . it wouldn't give a reading with both in the green if I pushed down - no matter how many times I went back and forth. When I got to the gig, I re-tuned using my rack tuner and get the tuner even tighter . . . that said, I had some very nice comments about my playing and the sound of the Lakland . . . it was a good night! I'm a happy camper! That 55-60 is a dream to play . . .

I agree...JD....sounds like you are really pressing hard....no need to put indentations in the back of the neck!

relax and let the comfy contour do the work....

You must have really had a thick neck before. What I like about the Lakland necks is they aren't so dang skinny like so many modern builders seem to want to do. They leave enough thickness there to be comfortable without being fat.

contours are "almost the same".....but the lower horn is definitely longer.....very cool looking if you ask me!

I wanted that longer lower horn on my CB550 (check out the LOG site for more details on what this is) and I was told that that is for the 55-69 only.....oh well!

that is a cool minor design mod in my opinion!

Im not 100% sure but yes i have a feeling the body is slightly different. I used to have a 55-02 before this 55-69. The 69 appears slightly bigger to me but could be an illusion. The 69 also feels more contoured to sit on my body better than my 02 but could be just skyline vs usa model difference. They both just as lightweight though

Perspective effects (different lenses, possibly) would be my guess.

If the -69 was available with different finish options and with chrome or black hardware, I'd find it a lot more tempting than I do. As it is, I just can't get behind it. Lots of cool stuff about it, but for a US Lakland price, the way an axe looks counts for me.

The pictures weren't taken at the same time. Angle is probably slightly off or the distance was different creating a slight fisheye distortion. This is just a quick overlay.

I have all these photoshop files..I put them up these in the first place Shots aren't exactly the same as the 55-69 is a newer model.

It looks like the recess isn't as deep on the 55-69, since it starts around the 20th/21st fret instead of near the end of the 22nd. Combined with the longer horn, that would be a deal breaker for me as I love the access on the 55-94/02. I can see where it wouldn't bother some folks though. It looks good though. I just love how easy it is to get your hand in all manner of contortions up in the high registers on Lakland's original design. It makes chording and such much easier.

The Tetsuya is a 55-69.....the bass I have being built is a CB550 (Chicago Bass Doctor 5 string...hand built by Carl Pedigo but based (heavily) off a 55-94). you can see in-process pics on the LOG site....

At the time the body was being cut, JP said he did not have clearance to use that lower horn on any other models.

bp - just checked out your CB550 thread on the LOG. That thing is gonna be schweeet! And I hear ya about that spalted top 55-94. That thing damn near stopped my heart when I saw its pictures.
