Can I get a number? USA DJ37 has a new owner. Two pics -- original owner gave this pic of the DJ under construction. Second pic is the DJ at its new home for Christmas. She was converted from active to passive along the journey. I took off her flats that she arrived with (thump and nice) and put on a new set of rounds. Exercised her at high volumes through a 6x10, and wow, this bass sounds great!!

I love that bass too! Already first in line for Dibs....somehow I am feeling a bit like a vulture out in the desert circling :D bwaaah hahahahah!! evil grin :hiding:

Nice. I learnt Lovesong on a whim a couple months ago, and I'm in the midst of a long-term campaign to get my band to do a Celtic version of Just Like Heaven (aka the Perfect Pop Song).

Uh... I'll admit that I spent the late 80s/early 90s as a Robert Smith clone. Crappy hair and all.

I had a very cool Schecter Baron bass that I stumbled onto used about an hour after it was traded in. picked it up for $180 :D
Found out it is the signature bass of the Cures bassist.
He endorsed the Baron for Schecter.
It had one giant humbucker like a Stingray. decent Eq too.
Looked like a tele style body, similar to the G&L ASAT bass.
Played like nobodies business....
I traded it in and got twice the paid amount at a GC along the way....

kinda wish I kept it for the small amount into it...
It was quite a great find and deal.

Doesn't the whole band have a deal with Schecter? I know that Robert smith has a sig model, and I thought that the lead guitarist ( izzizz name Porl or something?) had one at one point as well?

Oh, uh; laklands are cool! Back on track.

Oops, didn't mean to start a pic witch hunt on ya Roadkill!

What interests me most about the earlier Cure songs is how the bass is played, although very easy to learn note-wise, there's some nice accent work going on there.

I also I think "In Between Days" would work well as a Celtic version, plenty of room for droning backgrounds within the main two-chord progression.

Now off to go play along to some old Bauhaus :bassist:

This is an old band of mine from back in the day. I'm in the Jesus and Mary Chain shirt. Unfortunately, you can hardly see my hair in this one.

I'm also about 50 lbs heavier nowadays. Everything sorta went south after 30...

All I can say is that picture is "just like honey." Yes, I know way too many old "goth" bands songs.

And we see plenty of the hair. It's the eyeliner that seems to be MIA. :p

Yeah, I'm not sure where it is in that pic. The gods know I was as guilty of it as the other band members were.

It was a different time, that's for sure. I don't like where it went later, though. I find that to-day's Gothlings gave the movement a really ugly edge. The Cure seems almost innocent next to later bands, like even Marilyn Manson.

Uh, almost none of whom use Laklands. Back on traaaack...
